According to a Canon Rumor website, the firmware update was available yesterday at Canon Asia. So, instead of waiting one day, I went in, downloaded the update and installed it.

My question is: Is there any reason to believe the firmware update 1.04 from the Asia website is any different from the firmware update 1.04 from the USA website?

I checked the file size and they are identical. thanks. Maybe after I get to 70 (July) I will learn how to be patient!

How's your Mandarin?

I don't know about this specific situation, but it is possible that there could be some regional language differences.

Perhaps you will let us know!

Interesting enough, the instructions for completing were in several languages, including English.

Glad it worked for you. I would expect any regional variants would have different file names or number designations.

There are some regional differences with some things. I have a Canon pro 9000 mk ii printer, and the US variants are not set up to print on Cd / dvd media but the european ones are. Updating to the European firmware and a few other tweaks provides that capability.

I was quite surprised.

Good luck, hope it all works well.

Yes I know. I tried to use that update and it wouldn't install because the firmware update I installed yesterday was there.

Anyone know how to "uninstall" a firmware update??

I know I am making this a lot more complicated than it needs to be.

From what I read yesterday, it fixes several "phantom" issues. Nothing I have been experiencing, so I am going to wait before installing. I learned my lesson the hard way about jumping first to install firmware updates before listening to other users experience

It is worth watching. Several people have had teething problems with 7DmkII auto focus issues. Canon has acknowledged that a problem exists, and a firmware upgrade may be able to fix the problem. It isn't clear that the root cause has been identified yet.

Following SS's advice to "Watch this space" seems very sensible....

I've been one of those having "teething problems". Just finished the FW update and am taking the camera to work with me, to try. It should be pretty obvious if this has "fixed" my issues in Ai SERVO mode. Will give some initial impressions this evening.

Look for your feedback on this. Since I haven't had any issues with the 7D2 I'll wait to see what it seems to rectify/solve before I update the firmware.
