All those complements warranted, but what about how you got such superb pictures, like what lens, FL, and all the other settings?

Ol'Don the reason the 18mm focal length doesn't seem wide enough is that your camera has a crop sensor, which has a scale factor of 1.6, so your 18mm field is effectively
28.8mm.

#2 wins, mainly from applying a half stop more exposure and some cropping. Judging from the catch lights in the eyes it appears that a window was source of light, which did well to produce a warm soft portrait, a delightful capture of a cute, wide-eyed tyke.

Me too, I prefer what is called luster, satin or pearl, especially for portraiture.

Well of course, the camera to flash cannot be synchronized at speeds greater than 1/200 sec.

Hear, hear, Pounder 35 and Bmac, you're right on in separating fact from fantasy! The doom sayers have had their turn, not let realism and honesty take over!

Yes but there has to be a standard that everyone understands and with which everyone complies so that we can communicate accurately and with comprehension. That's what the subject of English as taught in our high schools was all about.

The distinction is simple; going back to basic grammar. "I" is used in the nominative case when it is the subject of a sentence - I went to the store or you and I are going to the store. "Me" is used in the objective case when it is the object of a preposition - he talked to you and me or they shouted at you and me.

The graphs are misleading simply because the frequency in cycles per second is not shown, which would have the greatest effect on displacement of the camera and therefore sharpness of the exposure. A truly valid comparison would be to put the tripods on a vibration table and measure the transmission of vibratory input. Another test is to measure the effect of wind force generated by a fan. In all cases, a displacement meter has to be mounted on the tripod head. That is if really valid data is desired!

Yeah, Linda, but I also like Meives' approach. Both set the mood.
