Two photographers, not knowing of each other, take the same photo at the same time. Although unlikely, it might happen more often than not.

One more...

Two whole numbers go to a restaurant and one asks for a piece of pie.
The other whole number startled says: "Wait, that's not rational !!"
To what the first whole number replied "Well, divide it by two then..."

Some PI and math jokes

Hey, why you should never talk to pi?
Because he'll go on forever...

Why do teenagers travel in groups of three?
Because they can't even....

Did you hear about the mathematician who was afraid of negative numbers?
He'll stop at nothing to avoid them.

Why did the chicken cross the moebius road?
To get to the same side

Parallel lines have so much in common
Too bad they 'll never meet.

Why was the math lecture so long?
Because the teacher kept going on a tangent.

Why math books are so depressing?
Because they are filled with problems.

The roundest knight at Sir Arthur's table was Sir Cumference.
He ate too much pi.

Deep quotes, especially the one dealing with the existence of God and the infinite nature of the universe. But I think that the concept that we only have this one life contradicts the properties of energy, which can neither be created nor destroyed. I think the energy of our conciousness has to change into something else -whatever it may be.

Possibly, but if it generates a productive discussion it might be a good can of worms to open -anyday. Jim's Richardson's quote is definitely on the spot. It underlines the importance to move around to capture more interesting images. I do identify with Don McCullin's about capturing the feeling in a photo. I do a lot of sports photography and I aim to do just that.

I agree that printing the photos is the best way to make them reach other generations. While I was putting together my family tree I discovered a photo of my great grandma, slouching and grabbing her head. The only photo of her, taken by someone in the 1930's and who never thought his/her photo would be seen 80+ years later. Since I put the photo in ancestry, I have received several messages from family members I did not know. All incredibly surprised at looking at this lady everyone knew, but few had seen. The same with my dad, who became 90 this weekend and looking at pictures when he was 16 yrs. old dressed as a soldier. The common denominator, they were all printed.

Last time I checked I had over 80,000 photos in my drive. I doubt someone would go over my photos. But if they are made accessible in some type of album it would have much better chances of making it through the years.

It seems you could use pretty much any camera. While there is no mention of your requirements other than price, I would add the lighter, the better.
Looking around, it seems that the 16MP mirrorless Fuji X-A10 might be a consideration given it is less than a pound (.73 lbs) and around $300 in Adorama.

Winning a raffle for season tickets to the Indianapolis Colts. My seats were so close to the field that at first I thought I won the lottery. But right before the game started I realized I could not see anything because of so many people working the game. Watching the game had to be in the jumbotron. But then I discovered there is so much going on than the game itself. I was able to talk to the NFL photographers and ask them what it takes to do what they do. Also talked to other broadcast people about their jobs and the difficulty to covering a game from end to end.(NBC broadcasts are insanely crowded!!) And of course, take lots of photos of what happens on the sidelines, between plays and on the game too. But I had to be lucky there was an opening and be really fast. Some of my photos are in my website http://daver.photo

Stacking images is used for :
focus: taking pictures at different depths of field
noise reduction: increasing the signal to noise ratio
eliminate unwanted objects: only the stationary objects remain.

There is a book that explains this (astrophotography included) and other uses (HDR, double exposure, etc.) then, how to use photoshop to merge them

Very good. I'll remember these for my bag of jokes.

Adding another, why do we recite at the play, but play at the recital?

This is where the errors and omissions insurance comes in handy. I once heard of a similar case (lost wedding photos) and the photographer had to pay for everyone's travel expenses to come in and re-create the wedding to take the photos once more.

In addition to my three backups for photography I also back up the operating system (C:\ drive in windows). Once got a nasty virus and all I had to do was to exchange drives in the PC.

Anybody know of a good guide for this flash and it's 622 controller? The pigeon English in the manual is frustrating. Questions range from basics (What are the two included cables that don't appear to do anything) to advanced multi-flash capabilities. I've got it working well on and off camera, but neither Mr Google or Mr YouTube have anything past basic use.

As for the manual, things like "When loosing the button, the groups have been selected of flash will be tested for once" makes my head hurt.
Anybody know of a good guide for this flash and it... (show quote)

I know the feeling. Crossed my mind that whomever writes a decent guide would sell lots of copies. The 685 is a great flash, but the instructions suck. I don't remember two cables included, but if you look at the flash it has two inputs. One is for external power and the other for sync. So, that could be their use. I was able to figure out much of this flash. Every time I did I wrote it down step by step. Let me know what you want to know and I might have already figured out. The hardest part for me was to get my Nikon SB-600 flash zoom in/out TTL off camera with the 622 controller, but it can be done.

I am going to composite several shots into one image and have a large print made.

I plan to do something similar. Would like to show the corona in a different way. I found this website that shows how to do it. http://www.astropix.com/html/j_digit/e_comp.html

I didn't do much preparation and used the camera automatic setting to get the images. I wanted take most of the moment with the family as well. I shot in ISO auto, 5.6 aperture and bracket 3 stops up and down, getting nine images for every burst. They turned out fairly well. Made some mistakes, but will be ready for the next one which goes right over my house.
