I have owned one for years; my most used lens. I purchased it to replace the 17-85 a bought with my first digital camera which was not a great lens. The 17-55 is sharp across the field, has good contrast and is well controlled for flare. The build quality is very good but not up to the standards of the L series lenses I own.

I have used both the Canon FL and FD bellows units. I tried out both and bought the FL back when I was shooting film because it did not require a double cable release. Both are very stable.

I think the colors of the scene cry out for a yellow or orange filter during black and white conversion. I would try decreasing the luminance of the blue and increase yellow and orange. This should increase the contrast between the subject and the sky. I would also consider cropping out the tree on the left but leave the tracks. Like Linda, Paul and ebrunner I do not find it impactful but I do enjoy looking at the image.

I'm glad you enjoyed the shot. Insects is one group of animals I know almost nothing of their taxonomy. Thinks for IDing this little diner for me.

I was looking through some older photos to see if any might convert well to black and white. I came across a very boring color image that I think was improved by the conversion.

I love your use of color. Lately I have been going through old photographs looking for those that would be good in b&w. I always look forward to your postings because I know I will be treated to a burst of perfectly composed colors; refreshing.

I updated too and I still have the information. It is only visible if I have the filmstrip showing. I did not see any way to make it go away other than hiding the filmstrip.

When you enter crop mode the "x" key on your keyboard toggles between landscape and portrait orientations.

It says to UNCHECK the Nikon 9000. Does that mean this install set-up won't work with the 9000?

The reason you uncheck this box for all scanners listed is that you already updated the driver and you do not want the Nikon scan to replace it with the old one as it installs. I believe there is a different driver for the Nikon 9000. I did not look into it as I have the 5000.

Go to this website for instructions on how to get Nikon Scan to work with Windows 8. It also works for Windows 10. I'm using my Coolscan 5000 with Nikon Scan software and it works flawlessly.

I have the CG2420 and love it; it is an excellent monitor. I have never heard of a CG24290. I believe that the model without the built in calibration is the CS2490 which also has a different panel and is not to quite the same standards. The built in calibration works in the background, I never notice it except for the notice that it was done while I was asleep.
