The answer might depend on what camera model you are using...

Or what subjects you are shooting.

That has been done and handled already

While it isn't hard to tell who this is addressed to, in general it helps to use "Quote Reply" as I did here.

since you're starting from scratch, try them out at a store or rent them to see how they feel in your hand, formerNikonguy myself, but if they're notin stock, they won't doyou much good.

Have you considered micro 4/3, since weight and availability are an issue?

I don't recommend M4/3 for indoor sports as FF works better in that light.

Maybe I wasn't shooting ETTR, but I have yet to find RAW better than JPG for getting detail out of shadows.

I don't know how or where Picasa keeps its index of photos so I suspect removing it and re-installing it might lose that information.

It’s really not so much cropping and maintaining the aspect ratio, it’s about cropping to the aspect ratio of the print. What software are you using?

To the OP - Print services can print for standard sizes such as 3 X 5, 4 X 6, 8 X 10 and so on (or anything with the same aspect ratio as a standard, 4 X 5 is the same aspect ratio as 8 X 10). Anything else will be cropped to fit, they never pad the shorter side.

I would think you can determine for yourself which lens you use the least and whether you could do without it. I know what I would do, but my needs aren't yours.

The only time I take batteries out of my cameras is when they need charging. They are replaced with a fresh one while the one replaced is charging.

Not a MAC user BUT exactly the same issue with Wintel...Had to keep legacy XP machines running just for these systems...

My wife has to have her old XP machine next to her main PC so she can print. Her printer has no driver for even Win 7.

ISO doesn't cause noise. The noise is a function of exposure. The exposure in camera (scene luminance + shutter speed + f/stop) determines the noise level.

Noise is also a function of sensor and processor which DOES depend on ISO setting.
