Gen'l info: While recently vacationing in Amsterdam, I dropped my R5 w/ Battery Grip, and RF 24-105 4L about 3 feet onto a tile floor. After a loud Oh S***!!! I picked it up and turned it on. It worked! Photos turned out okay, but I couldn't believe something didn't get jarred or broken. Back home, sent all to Canon for inspection. EVERYTHING checked out okay! Still can't believe it. Quite a testament to these new cameras!

We Dutch are very gentle, so are the tile floors..

That must have been a scary moment!! It never happened to me, thankfully..

Tough camera especially at the very strong lens mount on the body.

I did that in the first few days of my Sony RX100m1. It was powered on, lens deployed, and landed on the front corner of the lens housing on a tile floor with cement slab under it. I was happily surprised when it continued to work flawlessly but quickly ordered a wrist strap and a grip for it. It showed a dent where it landed but worked for years after. Lucky me.

Happy to hear it! You're a lucky person that should immediately run out and buy a lottery ticket

As it happens, gravity in Amsterdam is only 78% of what it is in Englewood, Florida. So you are lucky that you dropped your camera there, and not at home.

I'm glad things are OK... you may have had some good photos on the camera... although the it's likely the 'card' was undamaged.

Hard to believe you did not have a clear "protective" filter on the lens - that would have saved everything !
