The Canon 1DX Mark 3 needed to come out before the 2020 Olympics in Japan. It wanted a camera to compete with the Sony a9 Mark 1 and Mark 2 mirrorless cameras. Which are capable of 20fps. These two mirrorless cameras have Sony's newer longer lasting battery. But, from three videos I have seen by three pro photographers, known to this forum. The new Nikon D6 has not passed the test either, as some pros wanted it to be. The D6, I believe, has a 14fps rate? Regardless, these cameras will be at the Olympics. And all will take great images. Whether, it shoots 20, 16, or 14 fps.

So far, I've hit my shutter a bit over 40,000 times on my Nikon D500. The literature says most sub-professional Nikons are good for 150,000-200,000 shutter actuations, and the pro's are good up to about 400,000. My question is: Can the camera's shutter mechanism be replaced at that point? Is it like putting in a new set of tires on a car, or more like replacing the whole engine? Thanks in advance for any knowledgeable input you can offer.

Keep shooting until it fails on you. Your shutter can fail before its predicted lifespan, or after its lifespan. I knew a photographer who owned a Sony a55 SLT camera, and it failed at about 55,000 shutter clicks. A few years ago, that cost him $250 to repair. Mt Shooter said, he knew of a Canon Rebel DSLR camera, that had well over 200,000 shutter clicks, and still clicking. And, that camera is not considered a pro level camera either. This is why I have an extra Nikon Bridge camera, a Sony Cyber Shot pocket camera, and my smartphone. Never get caught without having any camera at all. And, always have an extra battery for each camera.

I used the D500 for Basketball and Volleyball for several years. My favorite lens was the Nikon 85 f1.8 stopped down to 2.2 or 2.5. Mainly stayed in the corners in basketball so was good for shots outside the key. The D500 has become my secondary since I got the D4s. I also agree to use BBF. Once you get use to it you will never go back. Paul Read Miller has some great YouTube vids on shooting sports. All of the photographers I know who shoots sports use BBF.

I met a NFL pro photographer, who was using the Canon 1DX Mark 1, 4 years ago, who mentioned Paul Read Miller. I looked up Miller's name on Google. He has a respected reputation as an NFL pro photographer. Miller has the Canon pro gear too, as the one I met. Their lenses were virtually identical. 24-70mm, 70-200mm, and the 400mm prime. All lenses were f2.8. The photographer I met had another zoom lens. I forgot what it was. I'm guessing that shorter lens, was a wide angle zoom. All the lenses were "L" type.

In my opinion, since the D780 is selling for $2296.95, I would go for a new or refurbished D750. Both the D750 and D780, share the same type 24 megapixels sensor. There are some features the D750 does not have in comparison to the D780. But, for the extra money the D780 is costing. That saved money can contribute to some other camera items. Maybe a lens?

It does appear that the Nikon DX AF-P 10-20mm will not work on the D7000, as mentioned by Camerapapi, in an earlier thread. No firmware was offered to make it compatible. Along with some other older DX DSLRs?

You are one of hundreds of folks who ask that question here yearly. You will get about 30 different lens suggestions.
Your D7000 is a crop sensor camera. But, if your ever going to consider a full frame camera, you should also consider a FF lens, such as a Nikon FX lens. If this is the case, I would strongly recommend the Nikon 20 mm 1.8 G lens, which is currently $80.00 off and is selling now for $716.95 (within your stated budget) and includes an extra $64.95 in goodies, (Zeiss lens cleaning kit and a flexable lens shade which is good for the wide angle). Now this lens will have an effective angle of view of 30 mm, which is not exactly wide angle.

The other alternative would be a wide angle zoom lens. I use the following one when I am on vacation because it allow me more versatility than a fixed lens. The Nikon 10-20 is an excellent wide zoom with an effective angle of view of 15-30 mm on your D7500. This lens will cover the entire range of WIDE for you.
This lens will only set you back $276.95 so you will have lots of coin left over for something else.
I own and use this lens and in the REAL WORLD it takes sharp images that you will be pleased with.

Again, you will be getting lots of advice here. Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

I paid the same price for the AF-P 10-20mm lens, that you listed. A Xmas Sale reduction from $307. Nikon apparently did not go back to the original price. As, they often do.

I first attempted to do a High School basketball game, with a Nikon 70-300mm lens on a Nikon crop sensor DSLR. I was sitting on the upper lower seating level, and had a flash unit. I was unaware, that flash units are not allowed, by security there. The gym lighting was not good either. And the 70-300mm did not pass the test. I later bought a prime lens. A FX Nikon 50mm f1.8G. I felt I would not need a flash with that lens. And, have a 75mm FOV with that lens. I never did use it for High School basketball. But, found it perfect for outdoor kids soccer games during the summertime, from the sidelines. The D500, which is Nikon's best DX camera, has the anti-flicker features for both video and still photography. Definitely an advantage to other Nikon DX cameras, that don't have both..

You have zoom wide angle lenses and prime wide angle lenses. Your price range is satisfactory for a Brand New wide angle lens. Tamron/Tokina make good wide angle lenses. Nikon, now has a budget zoom wide angle lens, the AF-P 10-20mm, DX formatted. Price about $307. It's very plastic-ky, but has good reviews. On a D7000, your field of view will be 15-30mm. If, you want to spend less. You can get some very good used lenses from KEH. Good luck.

That camera is discontinued. It was a replacement to the D600, which had some issues, oil leaks. After, a certain period of time passing. Nikon will not service repair their cameras, especially if there are no parts available. You, would be better off getting a D750, discounted, because of the release of its successor. The D780.

I came across some visitors from India to California a couple of years ago. The women wear the most beautiful colorful attire. Just as depicted in your photo. Their visit was for touring. Not to dance though. Nice portrait.

Yes, you are correct. I found that out when I first visited Flagstaff, AZ. I was accustomed to the western region of Arizona, like Phoenix. Where the temperature in the summertime, can reach a 103 degrees. Very nice photos.

The built in focus motor allows AF on AF lenses that don't have built in motor not to allow using manual focus lenses. Manual focus lenses (AI or AI-S) can be used on all Nikon DSLR but to meter with them you need the AI coupling tab (not the focus motor as they are manual focus lenses).

You are correct. The D3000x and D5000x DSLRs, don't have the AI index tab, so that it will meter. You can still manual focus it though. And either guess the exposure. Or have a light meter, or use the Sunny 16 Rule?

Are you looking for an aluminum or carbon fiber tripod? A 24-70mm lens is not a long lens, like a 200-500mm or a 150-600mm lens. There are many to choose from. And, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get a good tripod. I was given a table top tripod as a gift. I had no use for it, and gave it away. Someone gave me an aluminum 50" tripod, and I have no use for that either. I'll donate that to a High School or Community College. Good luck in your selection.

Some discussion this was. This topic was discussed last year. Not too long ago. And, it is still as controversial as the first one. Non CPU, etc. ???
