Panic!!!!!!!
The new Canon EOS 1DX MIII is only good for about 8.6 hours of use.
That is not much for a camera costing $6,500.
The mechanical shutter is rated at about 500,000 actuations I read in an article.
That means at 16 fps you have worn the shutter out in one 8.6 hour session, not even a day.
So birders be careful.

You know that means at the max frame rate that is how long it takes to have the shutter reach it's rated life if the shutter was mashed down and just left to run, right?

No one is going to hold the shutter button down
that long.
It turn out to be about 1000$/ hour, that Canadian dollar
Yes I do.
I just thought it was an interesting exercise to see how fast 16 fps would reach 500,000 cycles and how long that would take.
I hope people do not panic over this exercise.

Pretty expensive.
See my response to Robert.
Canon 5D Mark iv 5.95 hours
Nikon D850 7.94 hours
Nikon D5 9.26 hours
The 1Dx miii is in the same range. What’s the issue?

It was just an exercise to see what is the actual time at max continuous rate to reach the design limit.
This was not a serious attack just to see how long it would take to reach 500,000 at 16 fps.
I doubt anyone has ever thought of this here in this way before.
I have heard it called the best DSLR ever produced... not a term anyone is using about the Nikon D6.
