For those of you who purchase items from B&H:

Exactly one month ago I purchased an Olympus 8-25 Pro lens from B&H for $1099. The item arrived quickly, perfectly packed, etc. A fantastic lens.

Today, I learned that Oly (and subsequently B&H) had the lens on sale for $899. I sent a simple email inquiry to B&H and was credited with the difference...within 10 minutes of contacting them. Excellent service.

For your information.

VBR,

Nice shot! Looks more like a tirade than a conversation. That guy on the right is not happy.

Thanks, Steve. It looks something like this.

Thanks for that, Voss. After looking at both, I do think the original has more impact. But, I like both.

Great capture! I think I would like to see how it looks with the figure a bit lighter.

That’s a very interesting shot, Voss. I have no idea what I’m looking at. It reminds me of one of those old psychological tests where the subject is shown a purposely ambiguous picture and the subject then tells a story about that picture.

Long story short: a friend asked if I'd fix a family photo for her.

I scanned at differing exposures/gamuts/contrasts/etc. to see if an HDR-ed composite might reveal various of the weak or absent highlights, then ended up proceeding with only one of the scans. Before long, between corrections and modifications and digital legerdemain in Lr and who knows how many hits with the clone tool and selections and other digerty-doo in Ps, it dawned on me that what I was seeing was not a basic 'restoration'. It was, or would instead be --thanks to the lady's look-- an image worthy of something more 'interpretative'.

I could be right or I could be wrong. There's little difference between the two.

You may have noticed AI (programs) have been in the news (again) in the past two weeks with reports of their amazing (and improving) creative capabilities. AI programs can now write poems, jokes, term papers and other literature; duplicate art masterpieces and solve complex problem. We already have several PP programs touting AI features….and many cameras touting AI functions.....(really....don't we call this auto mode?)

I’m sitting here, doing some real PP-editing (whatever that is) and wondering how long before the entire photography process completely disappears and we'll be saying: “Seri…CREATE me a perfect photo of the Golden Gate Bridge at sundown”; without OUR fingers pressing (obsolete) shutter buttons? Oh wait….is that already available on Amazon? Ah, the joy of shooting may be disappearing…..(soon) Your thoughts?
