"Since golf is a game, and photography is a sport"

If true, how come an athlete is paid millions and recording his achievements much less.

One way to improve the photos would be adding flash. Distance to subject certainly comes into play and power of flash. You had the sun at your back which helps.

Will be visiting the Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA first of June. Any info on restrictions on back packs, tripod or monopods. Is flash allowed?
Thanks!

An iconic plane! Always reminds me of the ones that did not return. You have a great memory to cherish.

As in life, a blind squirrel finds the occasional nut!
Had an opportunity around 1970 to watch a National Geo photog operate at a race. Motor drive operated like a Bell and Howell! I shot 3 - 4 rolls, he shot packs. Think of the squirrel analogy!

Old rule was shutter speeds less then size of lens required tripod. 100mm = 100 sec. shutter or 200mm = 200 sec.
With IS I suppose this is obsolete. Still, old dogs hard to retrain.

Over the years have found manuals are handy after all else fails. Learning for me, the hands on approach works best. Then combine manual and familiarizing yourself with all functions (oh, that's what that does, hmmm).
Understanding the different symbols and how they relate to taking an image comes with time.
Good luck, and KEEP SHOOTING!
