congrats Geoffrey on your purchase, Im sure you will not be disappointed, I know I have been very pleased with my
600d kit lens set, but yours is better with the 18x135 .

if you are anything like me, after say a year or so, and when you get to know your camera, you will start to want other lenses, however CASH,becomes a big problem, unless you have a couple of Moneytrees, growing in your back garden, just have a look on the web at lens prices, they frighten me,mind you the sigma 150x500 at around $1000 here in Australia isn't to bad, but that alone is more than I paid for my camera, will just have to dream, Happy shooting , Colin

Hi Geoffrey, first of all welcome to the Hogl I have been a member for around two years and have learnt heaps.

now regards your camera, I have a canon 600d, which I believe Is the same as a 3ti, it has the same kit lenses as your first canon you mention ie 18x55 and 55x250, I have found them very good for kit lenes, however with your second camera with a 18x135, this for me would be my choice, as I think that the 18x135 would be a real good walk about lens which could be used both for wide angle shots, as well as having a useful, zoom range.
im sure you would not be disappointed with that one .

I find now that I would like a longer zoom lens, something like the sigma 150x500, and as a walk about lens, a sigma or a tamron lens 18x250, so you could always buy body only and add lenes as you learn an know what you require for the photography you are interested in,'

finally if you buy the kit lenses, I promise you wont be disappointed, and a big improvement from you present camera will be noticed,, regards colin

Thanks Briace for the photos of the Pool, I will download them for memory sake, and put them in a folder, The City I Once New, as since I left the Pool in 73, the place has changed so much, I hardly recognize many parts, the photo of the Liver Building I remember, but as for other parts, its like a new city, Must get back some day, and go round the old haunts, like the George Pub in Canning Place, that's if its still there,
anyway thanks for the photos, and of happy days gone bye, Colin, Orbost Vic Australia,

thanks for the feedback, I was on a grassy bank to take the shots, and just slowly moved down on my bum, and got to within about arms length, the real unusual thing was I had my dog with me, she is a kelpie x,but is very obedient, and the dragon didn't seem to worry, colin

now while the name Dragon somehow puts the fear of life into us, these are VERY timid, they live here on the Snowy river, and are known locally as Snowy River Crocodiles, they grow to around 2ft 6inches, or about750mm.
usually you cant get to close to them, but on this occasion, I managed to get to about three ft, very lucky, and now as summer is near, and the hot weather , we will see many of them basking in the sun, they like the 30c plus days and even up into the low 40c s

the slab hut was a house originally built 40k outside of Orbost Victoria Australia in 1872,and after many different owners over the years, was through the Historical Society of Orbost and the Local Council, was removed and numbered piece by piece, then re-built in town in approx 1984,
It is now our Information Centre, and staffed by volunteers, and even though it now has electric etc it shows what it was like to live all those years ago.

Thanks for the reply,NO nobody lives there now,Gwalia is around 2-3k from a small town called Leanora, and some of the people of that town, look after the old places in Gwalia, and help to stop them getting into any worse state of repair.colin
