Very interesting place. Have to tell you, it looks like the acoustics in that out door toilet made for some interest sounds. :D :D :D

The Dunny was probably made from metal so the heat generated would help compost the waste quicker. I use a similar idea in my woodland camp area. The compost made is then used when we replant trees.
Good shots of a great subject. Thanks for showing.

Thanks for the reply,NO nobody lives there now,Gwalia is around 2-3k from a small town called Leanora, and some of the people of that town, look after the old places in Gwalia, and help to stop them getting into any worse state of repair.colin
Interesting series. I was gonna guess gas tank on the last pic, so I was kinda right, right? And yes,we are soft!:)lol
Thanks for posing, I like your photos. When I looked at your "any idea what this is" pic I thought "Outhouse...?" Then I laughed when I was right. :) Looks to me like it was made from available scrap. Then I looked up the town to see where it was and found this on Wikipedia:

Interesting history, seems there is a little commonality in the U.S. old west and the Australian old west. :) Especially in that a young geologist from the U.S. named Herbert Hoover (later 31st president of the U.S.) was sent there to help develop the mining operation. Small world. :)
Love the history, post more photos if you have them. :)

Just think about this Wonky! A hot Port-a-potty! Whew! I don't know if I could hold my nose long enough  Great pics. Kind of puts things in perspective, doesn't it? How did we ever get by without central air?
