now while the name Dragon somehow puts the fear of life into us, these are VERY timid, they live here on the Snowy river, and are known locally as Snowy River Crocodiles, they grow to around 2ft 6inches, or about750mm.
usually you cant get to close to them, but on this occasion, I managed to get to about three ft, very lucky, and now as summer is near, and the hot weather , we will see many of them basking in the sun, they like the 30c plus days and even up into the low 40c s
sunning himself
got quite close for this one
the face only a mother could love
back legs and feet
Ive got my eyes on you
time for me to leave, have a good day
Great pictures, thanks for the post...Norm

thanks for the feedback, I was on a grassy bank to take the shots, and just slowly moved down on my bum, and got to within about arms length, the real unusual thing was I had my dog with me, she is a kelpie x,but is very obedient, and the dragon didn't seem to worry, colin
COLANN: Prehistoric looking for sure. You captured the dragon very nicely. Thanks for posting the photos for all to see.

Very nice pictures!!
There is a relative sold here in the USA for pets called a Chinese Water Dragon. There is also the land relative: the iguana. Not my choice of pets.
You are fortunate to get those and so sharp and colorful. Great work.
