I also just Bookmarked the index page. Thanks. Now all I could use is Video editing software info. Haven't used the DSLR for that much, but plan to start using that capability of the camera as well. I downloaded Final Cut Pro X free trial, but have not started playing with it yet. I am still heavy on the learning curve with all aspects of photography still.

The underwater world is amazing. I am just getting into the Macro stuff which I really love. Problem is I don't see most of it as it is so small in a large world. The Painted Elysia was only about 1/2 inch long and the file fish was about an inch. compare that to a barracuda at about 5 foot and it take rethinking your eye's and brain to find the little world. I love big stuff like sharks, turtles, lobsters, and fishes, and I love diving wrecks, but the Macro world is my current favorite. It is addictive.

I was on Little Cayman Island in March taking a class on Lightroom 5. [Have to go where the classes are you know :-) ] Tried my hand with wide angle (Tokina 10-17), 60 mm Macro, and 105 mm with a Macromate. Camera is Nikon D7000 in Aquatica housing with two Inon Z240 strobes. Jawfish has eggs in its mouth. Painted Elysia is tiny [grains of sand are under it for size comparison]. Going back again in June for the Digital Shootout. Can't wait.

Nikon D7000 with an 18-300 mm f/3.5-5.6 is my grab-it-and-go lens. I have 4 other lenses, but just to grab-and-go, that is the one on the camera as I begin to travel.

This is copied info from www.dpreview.com on the upgrade:

Support for the AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR has been added.

Subject tracking performance in AF-C (continuous-servo autofocus) autofocus mode with framing using the viewfinder has been improved.

Frame output size has been changed from 95% to 100% when movie live view display is changed to "Information off" and an HDMI-compatible device is connected.

An issue that caused the right edges of images to be somewhat white when captured at an Image area setting of DX (24x16) 1.5x withActive D-Lighting set to Off has been resolved.

When the camera's shutter-release button was pressed repeatedly for uninterrupted shooting with the "Record to:" option in Camera Control Pro 2's Storage tab set to "PC+CARD", the camera would stop responding with displaying "Err" in its control panel. This issue has been resolved.

In some very rare cases, colors would change with shooting when white balance was set to a specific color temperature, as with Preset manual or Choose color temp. This issue has been resolved.

For some reason the other day I decided to check for a firmware update for my D7000 and low and behold there is a recent one. For anyone else who may have a D7000 and not know, Google it and upgrade. Just a suggestion.

Julianne Kost is Awesome and at Adobe she is free. I just spent a week on Little Cayman taking a Lightroom 5 class with Erin Quigley ( www.goaskerin.com ) and had an awesome time [Have to go where the classes are offered you know :-) ]. She started the class at ground zero and went from there. Also happens to be a Scuba diver so we would spend mornings diving, afternoons in classroom, and evenings in one-on-one with her as needed in the classroom. Scott Kelby's book on Lightroom 5 now makes a lot more sense to me as I am a tactile learner (hands on) rather than a book learner. Lightroom is an awesome program when you get beyond the Basic Panel in the Develop Module. I have no Photoshop knowledge, so Lightroom does everything I think I will ever need. Enjoy.

I noticed someone mentioned cigars from the new papa. I thing that for this baby, perhaps 64 Gb SD cards should be given instead. Just a thought :)

I have the Think Tank Airport Pro. I carry two Nikon bodies, my 70-200 f/2.8, Nikon 18-300 mm attached to one body, Nikon 60 mm, Nikon 105 macro, and Tokina 10-17 mm in it. Plus 2 external hard drives for my 15" MacBook Pro and the computer, plus assorted goodies. The case has wheels and zipped in the back, shoulder straps if you want to back pack it. I just came back from Micronesia and it fit in the overhead on all of the planes I flew on from Newark, NJ. Awesome bag that I highly recommend.

One of the great things about photographers is we all have different likes and dislikes. Reading the comments, I agree with them, but my favorites are #2 and #4. Love early morning foggy shots.

Julianne Kost is fantastic. Adobetv tutorials (Julianne is a teacher there) are great if you are like me and prefer having someone show you how to do things. Another awesome lady is Erin Quigley at goaskerin.com. I am attending a workshop on LR5 with Erin on Little Cayman Island in March [have to go where the workshops are you know :-) , at least thats what I have to tell my wife] of course I am a Diver as well, so it will be an awesome trip. Little Cayman is where i met Erin the first time at a digital shoot out. Awesome place. Dive in the AM, workshop in the PM

Just a though from a guy who is an Underwater photographer and has flooded several cameras (all it takes is a hair across an O-ring to flood a camera housing ad depth) so my cameras are always in and out of the water in housings designed for them. I carry H2O insurance on all my equipment. Look for it on the DAN website (Divers Action Network). When I flood a camera, I have to send it to the factory and have them send a note specifying it is toast and the company just sends a check to be used for whatever or however you want. Now of course there is a deductible, but that is still better that having to do a complete new purchase. If you only go to the beach once or twice a year, then perhaps it might not be a good idea, but if you are into photographing water and are around it all the time, think about it. I realize it won't help this time, but something for all hoggers to think about for the future. Best of luck with your insurance.

I really only use LR 5. I am just a basic photographer and have no idea what plug in's would even be available. I try to do everything I can 'in camera' and use LR 5 just to add a little contrast, clarity, or with the new LR 5 remove something I don't want (like a power wire or something) from the photo. There is a graduated filter and of course the color correction 'dropper' that helps from time to time. everything found in LR 5. I will be off to a week long LR 5 'emersion' seminar in March on Little Cayman Island (have to go where the classes are you know :D ) For now the basics are all I use

Lightroom 5 is fairly inexpensive (Adorama had it on sale a couple of weeks ago) and there are lots of tutorials at Adobetv.com that can help get you started. Julianne Kost is a great teacher and the tutorials are free. Just type in Lightroom Tutorials and Julianne Kost and go from there. The other bonus, is LR 5 is very easy to use (I do not have a smart phone because they are smarter than I am, but I can use LR 5 because I think it is that easy.) I don't use Photoshop for two reasons, cost and learning curve. LR 5 does what I think needs to be done to a photo. Good luck and have fun with whatever you chose.
