I definitely like the blur as it adds to the reality of what happened there--lots of action. But I always question my own photos with blur. It will be interesting to see what the majority say.
By the way, did you notice the two duplicate feet on the left side?

Thanks Katy, Good catch. I had to take out some ugly building parts and must have accidentally duplicated the feet. I'll fix that immediately.

I'm looking for some tough love comments here. The attached image was captured at the last second, so no time to up the shutter speed. Hence, the blurred motion. I'm trying to decide if the blur adds to the photo or renders it worthy of the trash bin? Thanks for taking the time to take a look and your comments will be greatly appreciated, as always. Thanks, Dick

I'M sorry, but the lens flare adds nothing to otherwise very nice images!!!!

It's so subjective. I've never before in all my years of shooting thought of lens flare as anything but an error on my part. But the pro auto photographer who was guiding the group suggested that it might be utilized as an artistic element. As far as I'm concerned, the jury is out. But as someone else commented on your post, it did distinguish my images from everything my peers submitted. In any event, I like pushing my own boundaries and comments such as yours are always helpful and appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to submit your honest assessment. That's what this group is all about! Cheers, Dick

There was a feminism beauty to this era fenders... the curvature. I had a 36 Ford 5 window. V8 of course. The interchangeability of part up until 1950 was amazing. Rdrechsler, Your photos utilized the sun to their advantage.

Yes, that’s so true. It was a great era for cars. Thanks for the compliment. Of all the other photographers that posted some truly creative work, no one utilized lens flares. I like the way they turned out.

I had the opportunity today, along with a group of photographer friends, to work with a professional car photographer to shoot this bright yellow oldie but goodie. It's pretty hard to stand out from the crowd with a dozen photographers all shooting the same subject, so I used a little lens flare. I find it's a useful artistic elements at times.
I shot the ocean vista to test out my new Nikon 24-120mm, f/4 lens.
What do you guys think?

Normal things, such as auto color and auto exposure in camera raw in Photoshop do not help. You are shooting, it seems, a reflective surface, over exposed, and in blue light (from the sky). Work on those problems, would be my suggestion.

Good point. The blue Sky reflection could be a problem, but the iPhone shot I used just to illustrate the problem was shot indoors with window light only.

Are there other colors around the toy?
It appears to be that way.

I’ve tried it with a black background as well. No difference, the color is still off.

I’m having an interesting problem. I am shooting a toy for a photography class and I can’t get the color right (shown here with window light). It has to be in natural light. I’ve tried all the white balance settings including the entire Kelvin scale. I’ve also tried every workable ISO, Shutter and aperture setting and I still can'€™t get it right. I’ve tried 3 different lenses and two other cameras and they all yield far less that a perfect match. The attached iPhone shot it indicative of the problem. There is a lot more green in the hue of the actual toy bowling pin, but every shot I take is too far off to even adjust in post. Any ideas about what I might be missing?

This is a really well executed shot. I love how it looks like a black and white picture with just a few hints of color sprinkled throughout and the color in the foreground. I’m assuming you used a slow shutter to get the effect of the rising steam. Do you recall the EXIF data? Nice job in any event.

I finally got some time to play around with my teleconverter tonight. Both shots were taken with a Nikon D850, Nikon 200-500mm f/5.6 lens.

The first shot was @500mm, f/5.6 1/100, ISO 200.

The second shot was with the teleconverter, so 1000mm, f/11, ISO 400.

I can't really see a discernible difference. Anyone?
