I want to thank everyone for the input. While I was doing this, she quietly went on Amazon and bought a package of 5 for $15.00.

The most spectacular part of this is that the machine was a gift from our neighbor, who has three others. One of them being almost $20,000. And no, neither of them is in business.

I am curious as to why your wife has a $12,000.00 sewing machine. Am I assuming correctly that she has a business use for it?

I also have 2-3 2gig sd cards, I bought at Walmart.

Even though I swore I would never start a thread like this one, here it is. My wife has a sewing machine, (if you can call it that at a cost of about $12,000.00) that will create patterns loaded on to it via thumb drive. However, it will not take one larger than one gigabyte. She has tried linking it to her laptop with a usb cord, but that doesn't work.
In this age of more, more, more, where do I find a one gig drive?

On a side note, my brother-in-law, a millionaire, uses an old Kodak digital point and shoot. (Maybe that's why he's a millionaire) His camera will only work with a 2 gig SD card. Can't find one of them, either.

There used to be a troll on here that went by the name of billyspad. He was great at critiquing the models, the photographers and other members, but never commented on the actual photo. He never posted an image and when called on his remarks, would argue, try to justify and continue to insult. I thought we were done with him, but maybe he was reborn!
Your responses show nothing but class, but I fear you are fighting a losing battle. I appreciate your posts, and admire the courage of your wife and the self confidence she projects!

Tom, I can't help but admire someone who acts like a heal and then doubles down on it. I find it amusing when someone who hides behind the anonymity of a forum like this plays the curmudgeon just because they're bored or trying to get a rise out of someone. I shouldn't respond, but today I must be just about as bored as you are.

Truly though, here is my golden rule about commenting on models in this forum section: Don't say anything about a model that you wouldn't say in their presence. When a model sheds their clothes, it's not an open invitation for critique on their physical appearance.

As for clothes, I have only been involved in a couple of shoots where the wardrobe was dictated by myself or a third party. Most of the time I let the model pick their clothes because it will be something they feel attractive in. If they're shy, it may be something they feel confident wearing. I shoot a lot of strip sequences. Putting the model in something they like makes the transition to wearing less easier. I may choose between outfit A and outfit B, but that's about it. Often I just ask, what did you bring to shoot in today? I realize that being an amatuer this may be a much different approach than a pro, but with the women I shoot, that's how I work.

This dynamic is especially true with my wife, for as you may imagine, the photographer/wife dynamic is much different than the photographer/paid model dynamic. That said, I feel wardrobe criticism is certainly fair game, I'm just explaining that many times wardrobe choices are out of my hands. Like I said before, I bring the camera, the model brings the rest.

So here are some of the juicier bits of your reply:

This is asinine. As I stated before, she was telling our friend and me about a fish hook stuck into a board on the dock. I included this because I thought it was a cute candid. I guess the concepts of both cute and candid are lost on you.

Again, if you ever get in my neck of the woods, It would be our treat to set up some studio time so you could try your hand at this. I can assure you it's not as easy as it looks. I bet you'd be more uncomfortable wearing clothes than the ladies would be wearing nothing.

PS. I find it telling that your avatar is a stolen image.

Going to SEA in 1967, Continental Airlines reconfigured the cabins to fit three seats, aisle, three seats. I was sandwiched between two very nervous EODs who chain smoked the entire 18 hour flight!

My wife used a mobility scooter. When I bought the plane tickets I told the agent, and there was no problem. She got priority going through TSA, boarded first and rode her scooter all the way to the door of the plane. They even let me go through TSA with her, so I didn't have to stand in line, either.

As I recall, the racoon was shot on auto! I guess what I should have said, using the same film, developed in the same way, I shot so much I no longer had to meter. It became intuitive. But I also should add, just as I use Photoshop today, processing and post processing done in the darkroom saved a few marginal shots.

Shirley you JEST!!!
There is no way in H*LL, even with an old film camera friction-taped to your hand, that you could meter light, focus and shoot as fast as even a cheap digital camera today, especially while swinging a dead raccoon overhead with the other hand!!!!!
Please pass the popcorn, the comedy hour has started!!!
But don’t get me wrong, I get your point!!! LoL

Don't get me wrong! When I started this hobby in earnest in the early '60s, manual was all there was. Then in school we used view cameras, and there aint no automatic, there. As technology progressed, the automatic functions of cameras have become almost freakishly intelligent. I spent thousands of dollars on cameras, all with automatic features which rival the skills (exposure and focus) which I had as a photojournalist in Southeast Asia with my trusty Nikon. I shot so much I could judge light, get sharp focus, and get the shot as quickly as my camera can now. Obviously I am much older now, but my goal is still to get the shot. But I am gratefully happy to utilize the work and inventions of all the engineers who have made it possible for me to take the picture, and if I don't like what shows up on my screen, I can change it.

That being said, any newcomer who doesn't know the exposure triangle, is not a picture maker, but merely a picture taker.

Now, who has the popcorn?

Because my wife is disabled, we no longer hike together. When she could, she seemed to enjoy the stops to "smell the roses." Now, I either hike alone, or with a model. It's in her best interest to stop when I want to, because that's when we do our shooting.
