My monitor has an SD card slot and it always takes a letter even if nothing is inserted. So I assigned it to "Z" and it stays out of my way until needed. Once assigned in Hard Drive Manager they seem to stick to the letters given. My external backup hard drives always show up with their assigned letters. Any newly mounted drive will take the first available letter but once you assign it a letter it will stick unless some other device has been given that letter while the other drive is removed.

So if you want to have the letters "stick" assign end of alphabet letters to drives that you always want to have the same letter and keep E,F,G and H for temporary devices like thumb drives.

No, it is probably not your problem that you are illiterate.

But your problem seems to be lack of comprehension.

We use the same definition. We just disagree whether these sentiments fit that definition.

Isn't objectifying women and the insinuation in the statement "I'm going to get right behind her..." misogynistic?

Not that "I might give her a kick in the A** with a cleated boot!" isn't also misogynistic.

Some weeks ago I asked for advice as to speeding up operations in Photoshop. Opening images was sluggish and it too almost thirty seconds for the print dialogue box to appear after I pressed the print command. Many suggestions were received, but the best was my own: I purchased a new computer to replace my five year old unit.

I bought a Dell with an i7 ninth generation processor. It came with a pci 250 gb solid state drive and a one terabyte regular hard drive. It has a 6gb nvidea video card and thirty two gbs of memory I set photoshop to allow access to twenty gbs of memory and set the scratch disk to a third empty hard drive. The unit can take four hard drives.

I tried my first print today. Print dialoged box popped up in one second and the follow through operations went like lightening, including actual printing speed.

Now my wife wants to know what I'll do with all the time I save.

Your Scratch disk should be on your fastest drive.

Keep in mind the default sharpening setting for ACR is +25 for all RAW files types (with no regard to the camera, lens, etc). This default value is evident in the EXIF of the first image of this post.

For my own work, I prefer a higher value as well as refinements to the Radius, Detail and Masking values where the same sliders exists in LR as in ARC. Using the <ALT> key against the slider gives a better understanding of the purpose and impact of each of these sliders.

Although this post appears to be specific to CS4, it actually applies to two other Adobe products (LR, ARC) for explaining the sharpening sliders: https://www.photo.net/learn/camera-raw-sharpening. I've found a masking value in the 55 to 95 range (depending on image content) has the most impact (refinement) on the quality of the results.

I believe the default sharpening in the current Lightroom is now +40.

Any new section to UHH requires a volunteer moderator. How could that person know or control the age of members, let alone keep them out of The Attic and the soft-porn sections? I suspect that UHH Admin has excellent reasons for this notice:

Just so we all know -- children of all ages can visit the "adult" sections of UHH without logging in. The ALL CAPS statement: ALL PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 ARE DENIED ACCESS TO THIS WEBSITE. IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE, IT IS UNLAWFUL FOR YOU TO VISIT, READ, OR INTERACT WITH THIS WEBSITE OR ITS CONTENTS IN ANY MANNER. THIS WEBSITE SPECIFICALLY DENIES ACCESS TO ANY INDIVIDUAL THAT IS COVERED BY THE CHILD ONLINE PRIVACY ACT (COPA) OF 1998.
is just Boilerplate legalese designed to cover UHH when children DO visit the site.

As always, it is the parents' responsibility to "police" their children.

Try this Google search:

"move picasa library"

Might as well read what actually worked for someone else.

Seems they have added a page to the passport namely an 18% gray card.

Is it worth the increased price?

It will go on periodic sale just like the older edition. One is supposed to replace it every few years as the colors may change due to bright light exposure. If your current one is older than a few years old just watch for it to go on sale. (And don't leave it exposed to bright sunlight when not using it.)

My guess is that one of the gray patches on the colored swatches will work just as well for White Balance - it will just be a smaller sized patch. One of the group of gray patches is "true" gray and the others are for "warming" or "cooling" skin tones.

And B&H gives a 4% B&H "Reward" to be used on your next purchase at B&H. Always check B&H (and Adorama). They both will likely match other Authorized Vendors' prices - as may your local camera store.

If you use Photoshop, you can do this in Photoshop. It's rudimentary and a bit crude, but effective.

Thank you for the info. It is nice to be able to do some video editing with the tools I already pay for.

One can also do some video edition in Lightroom - even more rudimentary than PS. Extract a still image in Lightroom from your video - edit the still with the adjustments you would make for the video in the Develop Module. Right click on the still image and Copy settings... - choose the settings you want to copy to the video and copy.

Then move to the Library Module (as the Develop Module will tell you it does not support video). Choose your video and right click on it and choose Paste settings.... This will apply the settings you have copied from the still to the video. You then need to export the video from the Library Module to apply the setting to a finished (new) video.

No where near as feature rich as the Photoshop method. I read of this technique in Lightroom here at UHH a while back from another user.

Go to the manufacturer of the card's website and see if they have a link to their / or their recommended recovery software.

Or Google "free sd card recovery software" - there are a few out there.

Good luck.

These are stuck pixels. Try taking a short duration image with the cap on and then one 15 seconds long with the cap on and you will probably notice more or brighter ones in the longer exposures. Lightroom automatically removes them from the Preview and the Developed images.

I do have questions. 1. I can’t find 11x14 size in the drop down menus. 2. I am using red river paper and have downloaded the icc profile for it but can’t find it in psp when I print.

Red River Paper on printing borderless to 11 x 14 on a Canon printer:

https://www.redrivercatalog.com/infocenter/tips/how-to-print-11x14-borderless-canon-inkjet-printer.html

To print to 11 x 14 with borders maybe you just create a Custom paper size.
