Loaded my (unmodded) Sony A7R V camera and Astro-Tech 65EDQ scope with a Lumicon Deep Sky filter on a Celestron Evolution mount and shot 245x15 sec. subs (~1 hour) @ ISO3200 of the Rosette Nebula.

I fought cloud most of the session and ultimately discarded 73 subs due to 'foggy' stars.

Alignment, stacking and initial stretch done in PixInsight. The remainder of the postprocessing was done in Lightroom and Photoshop (A-P).

Enjoy!

Nice image of the Rosette. Looks like there is lots more nebulosity surrounding the main object.

The first few days of a new phase are always the best times, and you proved why. Great detail. The second one is just as good if not better because your Jupiter is actually round instead of a streak or oval. I know Jupiter bulges at the equator, but mostly round.

I will be in Mexico at the time of the eclipse, and want to make sure I have the correct setting for picture taking. Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Presuming you already know to use the proper solar filter, why don't you practice on the sun before you go to Mexico. You might catch some sun spots. During totality, when you can remove the filter, you'll have time to play around with settings.

Crazy situation. Two years ago, I had a microwave that burnt up. Went and got a large toaster oven. Loved it.
I had it less than 6 months and it started smoking...BADLY.
I went and got a new microwave and a smaller toaster oven.

Now the microwave is smoking when you run it more that 30 seconds.
I still have the larger toaster oven and like it so much better than the small one, but afraid to plug it in any more.

Anybody have an idea what could be happening or if they can or cannot be fixed????
please speak up. br br Crazy situation. Two years... (show quote)

Remove the burnt toast from the oven, it will stop smoking. 🤪🤪🤪, I just had to say it.

I'm sorry. I usually try to keep my mouth on such issues but I'm stunned. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone say they are not confident in their work and when suggestions are offered, say "I want to do it my way".

I see only one simple solution. Do it your way.

Paul said, Capture more, not less.
- Analyze images on your large screen computer monitor, not an unprocessed JPEG on a 2x2 miniature camera screen.
- Identify what you like, if not in your own images, in other's and figure out how to achieve that result in your own.

I've made that mistake of thinking the shot looked acceptable on the camera screen, only to find out I should have taken a few more to try and get a better one.

My Canon Pro 1000 used a maintenance tank at the cost of $15. I hate spending money to buy something, just to throw it away.
