Thank you, Ken. The "date night" with Jupiter is less common.

I get so tired of seeing shots of the moon on UHH...same shot every time. Different user different camera...same boring shot of the moon (yawn). But I think your first shot is extraordinary! Well done, sir!

What time was this great photo taken? I don’t recall ever seeing the crescent moon in this position.
Thanks.

Enjoyed the picture but wondered if you said,"Smile for the camera" when taking it?

Thank you very much, Ava'sPapa! I have personally never shot the moon with such a small crescent before. More mystery because of the large unlit area maybe?

Hi Bluefish, thanks for the feedback on the photos.

The shots were taken on two different days/times. Both times the moon was fairly low in the western sky. The moon and Jupiter being near each other on 3/13 and visible in the west after sunset was mentioned by our local news weatherman, prompting me to go out for shot #2.
- March 12th, 7.44 p.m. EST. (EXIF says 6.44 p.m. since the camera clock has not been adjusted for Spring-forward)
- March 13th, 8.30 p.m. EST.

Thanks Brian! I let nature take its course when photographing it, but after your comment, I may never look at a crescent moon the same way again!
