as a kid I had a battery operated model of the '58 Skyliner, where the trunk automatically opened up at the push of a button, and the hard top roof disappeared in to it.

Looking at that heavy line around the roof, I'm thinking this the full size version of that.

The Ford retractable hardtops were 2-door not 4 and the top folded near the front.

I learned to drive in one of those when I was 15. Compared to steering and suspension in todays cars it drove like a boat.
