I never look at that data. I keep shooting till the battery indicator shows about 25%. Then I switch batteries. Sometimes, there's such a thing a s too much information.

That's exactly what I do. The advantages of having one or two extra batteries, can make this possible. Whether the batteries are OEM or aftermarket. When the battery becomes weak, and can no longer hold a charge. Buy a new one. Same for smartphone batteries.

Actually, all of the Sony Cyber Shot pocket cameras take great photos. Including those that shoot JPEG only. Like the one I bought 4 years ago, Zeiss lens 25-200mm, and the tiny 20 megapixels sensor. I would prefer to have one that shoots RAW, such as the HX99 model. Which will not break the bank, as the Sony RX100iv. Fortunately, I have a Nikon DSLR, that does shoot RAW.

I have a friend who has the Nikon FX 28-300mm zoom lens on his Nikon D7100, 24 megapixels. It works great on a DX camera. As, for it not being recommended for the D850? Perhaps, it is because it has too many megapixels for that lens, which is 45.7. The most megapixels ever, of Nikon's DSLRs for now.

B&H gives you free expedited shipping, if your purchase items are at least $49. I generally order over that amount. When B&H was using UPS, my orders took 5 days to get to Southern California. Slow, but still efficiently delivered. I never complained. I'm not a big fan of FedEx delivery services. Which is what B&H is using now. So far, especially since the past Xmas holiday Sales. I can say, that I had no issues with the three separate deliveries from B&H, by FedEx, during that busy holiday time, last December.

You didn't mention where you are located. If, there is an authorized Nikon repair facility in your local area, you have 39 days to go have your Nikon camera gear repaired by them. After that, you'll have to send your Nikon Gear to New York or Los Angeles.

Your list of cameras are very good. For myself, I would bring it down to three choices. The Canon G9X, Sony RX100vii, and the Sony HX99. Either of these cameras are more than adequate to take as an only camera for a vacation. You do want satisfactory focal range. And, a camera that can shoot in RAW. I prefer to have a focal range, for a travel camera, to have a focal range from 25mm-200mm. But, not always necessary to every traveling photographer. Good luck on your choice.

I believe the Zeiss 50mm f1.4 Planar is manual focus only? Compared to the Canon 50mm f1.2, which is autofocus.

I just checked, and discovered the Zeiss 50mm f1.4 Planar FE , Sony Brand name, is autofocus.

Or, you could purchase a refurbished shutter for $100 from eBay. And go to your local camera repair shop, and request what his labor charge will be to install it? It could be cheaper than purchasing a used D610. Nikon, is abandoning their authorized repair shops on March 31st. So, it really shouldn't matter what repair shop you take it to, if you have the parts already. Good luck.

There were complaints about wild turkeys in the northeastern region of the US. Turkey noise was one complaint, the other being big bird droppings. Nice photo.

I saw once, a row of wind turbines in the northern region of Southern California. A long time ago. Are they tornado proof? Texas has tornadoes. The turbines I saw, certainly did not provide 20% of energy then, and not now. Nuclear energy plants have not worked well either. Costing $billions to dismantle a nuclear plant, near where President Nixon lived. Our Governor wants solar energy to be the main source of energy in California. All new houses built, by a certain future year, will be required by State Law, to be equipped with solar energy panels. I can't tell you, how many times, I have seen the late Boone Pickens on TV. He was very rich, and loved to talk about how he could solve America's energy problems. America is no longer dependent on Middle Eastern oil anymore. For a change.

Very nice photos posted. I know someone, who also went to the the UK, with the Sony a6000 mirrorless camera, about 4 years ago. He bought the Bundle Kit, that included two lenses. The 16-50mm and the 55-210mm. I saw his photos from his computer. He took many, but I saw none of the Manchester Cathedral. Thanks for sharing.

The 1DX MIII has 20 fps capability with NO blackout as well.
PS Sony mechanical shutter a9 MII has only 10 fps mechanical.
Also the 1DX MIII does not band under artificial lights at 16 fps where the Sony a9 II has to slow down to 10 fps to avoid this banding problem indoors.
"Although the vast majority of us will not be buying one of these cameras, it at least makes for an entertaining battle between the camera industry heavyweights. Pricing for the a9 II is in line with that of the a9: $4,498. This makes it a grand cheaper than the 1D X II and the D5, and you have to wonder who, outside of the agencies, is buying a Canon or a Nikon right now.

"That said, the 1D X Mark II might still be the better option for many professionals. When you step indoors, you don’t have to switch from electronic to mechanical shutter and thus drop to 10 frames per second to avoid the banding often caused by artificial lights. And when shooting outdoors, you have a camera that has a proven track record of performing consistently under truly terrible conditions."

The 1DX MIII has 20 fps capability with NO blackou... (show quote)

Interesting article on the Sony a9ii mirrorless camera. The first review I read late last year, is that one feature that was offered, is faster memory cards. The current model is compatible with the UHS-II SD card. The previous model uses UHS-I, SD cards compatibility. Both have dual slots. The Canon 1DX Mark 3, uses the most updated Compact Flash memory card system. Any of these pro cameras, are way above my budget level. But, it's nice to know something about them. Anyway.
