I’m having a GAS attack! Please help Hoggs! Anyone have any experience with this little jewel? Need an upgrade from my RX10M2. Plus it’s on sale at B&H with a free memory card! What to do?

Why upgrade? What will the RX100M7 do that your RX10M2 can't?

Lots! Lol Same tracking system as the Sony a9, better range, so many improvements from the M2!

Actually, the m7 is superior in many ways to the M2. The Af and the additional range in the lens are two reasons I would get it if I had the M2. It also has a pretty decent viewfinder. I got the m6 just before it came out, so I haven't upgraded, but I have been very happy with the M6 over the iii and the v. If you can afford it, it is a great travel/hiking camera.

It is an absolutely great camera. Pop up EVF, super-fast focusing and 24 - 200 mm lens in a package that fits in your pocket. I carry one daily and use it all the time when I want something discrete.

Go for it, feed the GAS.

Just buy it! It does everything, but the dishes, and it won't vacuum the floors either. But it is so good I am going to leave my a7m3 home on my next trip to the Bahamas and just take it. The quality is not the same as FF, but for the casual shooter that is not selling the photos, it is a great camera. And it does a lot that the M2 won't do.

Just keep in mind, the only RX100 series camera that has a hot shoe is the RX100 II. I have used the RX100 VII. If you like the limited zoom range, it will work nicely for you. Zeiss lenses are hard to beat.

I've read that the main difference between the vi and the vii is somewhat better video capability on the vii. I love my vi; it should be available for less money than the new model.

I upgraded my rx100 m3 to the m7 the extra range makes all the difference and being ble to track and take 20 frames per second make a big enough difference.

Actually, all of the Sony Cyber Shot pocket cameras take great photos. Including those that shoot JPEG only. Like the one I bought 4 years ago, Zeiss lens 25-200mm, and the tiny 20 megapixels sensor. I would prefer to have one that shoots RAW, such as the HX99 model. Which will not break the bank, as the Sony RX100iv. Fortunately, I have a Nikon DSLR, that does shoot RAW.
