If I had known when I bought this printer 12 years ago that I would have to replace it, I might have considered another model and brand.
Actually, I thought I would stick with Epson and get the P-700 (13x19 prints), then decided to ask the hogs for other suggestions, with main reasons.
Btw, I have 18 assorted ink cartridges that I will sell together if anyone wants to make an offer.

I would be happy to get 12 years out of a printer!! Personally, I use Canon printers and currently the Canon Pro 10 is my photo printer. It uses pigment ink. For an all-in-one office printer, I prefer any of the Canon Pixma printers.

I only carry my phone if my wife is not with me; which is not often. I have never taken a picture with it. Don't even know how. I am proud of that fact.

I actually FORGET that I can take pictures with my phone. Maybe that’s because I always carry my Sony RX100viii with me. It’s just as easy to grab that camera as it is to grab a phone...and the results are WAY better (I think).

The exception to this is when I take pictures of gear I want to sell. It’s just a little simpler to use the phone camera for this. The phone cameras have gotten better. I still carry the iPhone XS and my grandkids say the camera in version 12 is even better. I won’t become a convert, though.

Of course, for special occasions, I carry the BIG camera and the best lens/lenses for the job.

I would agree, but on a crop sensor camera, a 50mm lens will do almost the same job as an 85mm on a full frame camera for a lot less money. Even a 50mm f/1.4 should be quite a bit less than an 85mm lens. And depending on how much room you have to work, the required subject distance can get a little long with an 85mm lens on a DX camera.

I agree that the 85mm, although the portrait lens of choice, it is best on a full-frame camera. I would opt for the 50mm f/1.4 instead. I have a very limited studio space and I actually prefer my Sigma 35mm f/1.4 on my full frame camera. Outside, I use the 85mm or my favorite outdoor portrait lens: the 135mm f1.8; but that lens is pretty pricey!!

To the OP: Good luck with your decision

Great optical illusion. I can see it both ways.
(Not the angle of view, but the perception on one's mind.)

Maybe the reflection in the rear rim?
Try changing it from a bright reflection in the rear rim to a darker reflection and see if that changes your perception.

Takes a bit of staring, but I finally could see it both ways. Yes, it looked melted at first glance. Interesting shot. Thanks for sharing.

Looks more like a “hand-held” cannon disguised like a camera. Very funny.

I recently purchased a new Sony A7Riii camera and Sony 24-105 f/4 lens. I can change shutter speed or aperture independently in manual mode but when I try to use either aperture or shutter speed priority both change when I rotate either the front or rear dials. Is this a "Sony" thing or am I missing something. I am not using auto ISO.

What have I missed when setting up the camera?

Please note that due to the time difference between Australia and the rest of the world I will be off line for several hours before I can respond to any posts in answer to this.

Regards,

Richard.

That’s the nature of Aperture priority. You pick the aperture and the camera picks the shutter speed. That’s when you are NOT in auto ISO. if you switch to auto ISO, then only the aperture changes.

I have this camera and I just tested it. Also, either the front dial OR the back dial will change the aperture. When you use manual mode, the front dial changes the aperture and the back dial changes the shutter speed. This is true whether you are in auto ISO or not.

Hope this helps.

Edit: I see that I’m a little late to the party. I’m glad you figured it out. The best thing about the Sony menu is the option of putting your most used (and often lost) settings in the MY MENU.

Here on UHH the a7III is dismissed as a dated but still usable basic model. Never was state of the art, and now it’s aging.

But as you’ve discovered, in the real world it kicks real world butt ;-)

I also have this camera and it certainly is NOT basic and I’ve read nothing but praise for it on UHH.

To the OP: You will enjoy this camera for a long time. I switched from Nikon as well. I love this camera for its amazing AF.

I am wondering if I can mass delete photos from Lr. For example, if I have taken 200 photos and decide that 50 are keepers, I want to delete the remaining 150 photos. If I click on a photo and press delete, I am given the option to delete the photo from disk. However, if I select more than one photo and press delete, I get a "beep" and I can't delete the photos. I am forced to do one at a time, which is very time consuming. I must be missing something. Does anyone know how to delete multiple photos from Lr with a "single" click? Thanks.

I flag all the ones with an X that I want to remove from Lightroom; then go to Photo/delete all rejected. You then have the choice to delete from disk or just remove from Lightroom. If they are looser photos, I delete from disc as I’ll have no use for them ever!

Hope this helps.

This adapter is like new and sells for $369. I am only asking $219 firm. I'll pay shipping. It worked perfectly on my Sony a7iii but the AF didn't work on my a7Riv; but was still usable with manual focus. It's for an F-mount Nikon lens to an E-mount Sony camera. I used it for a Sigma lens for Nikon on my Sony camera. If you don't like how it works with your camera, I would accept a return. You pay shipping for the return. I was able to get lenses for my Sony camera and no longer need the adaptor. PayPal preferred, Continental USA only.

Beautiful Bokeh for outdoor portraits with this lens. I've switched to Sony and no longer need this lens. It comes with a case, hood and front and rear caps. The new price on this lens is $1400 and I am only asking $999. Also available is a Commlite adaptor for Nikon to Sony that worked perfectly with my a7iii. The adaptor is listed separately. PayPal preferred for payment. Continental USA only.

I will be purchasing a new Canon camera body to go with a Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8 USM lens. ($1,350)
This lens is made for a full frame camera but will also work well with an APS-C sensor.
I shoot mostly sports, i.e. baseball, fastpitch softball & indoor volleyball (photos & video).
Canon EOS 90D is APS-C but shoots 4K video. ($1,200)
Canon EOS 6D Mark II is full-frame but does not shoot 4K video. ($1,400)
I know that cutting edge technology is now 8K video. Is it worth buying a full-frame camera that shoots only out-dated HD video or an APS-C camera that shoots semi-cutting-edge 4K video to accompany a lens made for a full-frame camera? I know that the EOS 5D Mark IV does it all but, since cost is a factor, I don't want to spend $2,500 for a camera body. Thanks for any thoughts or insights.

Wait until you can afford the 5D Mark IV. It’s only a few hundred more. You’ve already invested in a nice full-frame lens. You should have a full-frame camera. I think you’ll be sorry if you underbuy. Sell something so you can afford it. That’s how I justify and afford new/used gear.

Hello. I'm new to UHH and so I have a question or two about Post processing hardware. After years of shooting film and training in the darkroom I made the digital jump and started out with Photoshop +LightRoom on a PC. Software changes soon required new hardware, over and over, until my PC could no longer be upgraded; I'd hit the wall. I then made the jump to Apple. First with a MackBook and LCD monitor. Worked fine but soon it couldn't be upgraded any longer either so I got my first MAC. I'm definitely in the Apple camp and on my second MAC now and ready for a third! Will it ever end? No doubt it's fun getting new stuff but I want consistency. Would you go for the latest and greatest MAC with gobs of memory and a decent video card OR jump back to PC with just as many upgrade requirements and seemingly faster processing speeds? I'd appreciate knowing your approach to the incessant needs and wants when it comes to hardware? Thanks. jL

I switched to MAC 6 years ago after several “attacks” on my PC and never looked back. I’ll stay with Apple because I feel they are more secure without having to buy additional security software. Yes, they are more expensive but the security is worth it to me. YMMV
