Good Bye Celestron.
Hello iOptron! Shopping used.

Anybody got a mount to unload?

Nikonshooter had an AVX mount that he had repaired if memory serves he had put aside in case yours broke. Or last I heard any way.

Thanks for this comprehensive option! I have Canon T2i body, so pretty basic. I'll work with that for a while and see if it's worth it to me to change formats, maybe after another GAS attack?

I know I am late to the party but this is how I shoot with my Canon T2i and my Celestron 6” newton.
The first picture is my focuser showing it fully assembled. I unscrew the 1.25 adapter leaving the primary focus tube that is threaded on the outside rim to do what I wanted to do. This is the stock focuser by the way. I then use my t adapter without it’s snout threading it on snugly. The cameras can then mount up like attaching to a lens. I have no issues focusing with either my T2i or my 5D mark ii. I can also thread the 1.25 lens mount back in after detaching the camera to locate targets at lower mag with an eyepiece. If you have the stock Celestron focuser this should get you rockin.
The last picture was shot with this combo and is a long exposure that worked out really well for me.
Good luck,
Jim

Let me be the first to say that this is a great result.
I can image the cigar galaxy but have not been able to get this much detail from Bodes.
Well done.

I haven’t done a lot lately thanks to work and weather. It’s always good to see you and glad all is well.
I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and can find time to image a bit.
Go Buckeyes!

Very nice capture, thanks for sharing!!

Thank you very much for the compliment and for taking the time to comment.
I am surprised that more people from this group either didn’t image this or were not able to.
I am glad I could share this with everyone.

No fricken way!
I can’t believe the trouble you have had with your mount.
I hope you do better with what ever you decide on.
Stay calm and breathe in, breathe out, move on!

Thank you Sonny, Albuqshutterbug and Europa appreciate your comments. Is it still astrophotography in the daytime ?? Clear skies

Of course.
It just that it’s so bright it blocks out the other stars.
It is after all just a star.

I’m so glad some one else was able to image the transit.
I’m glad you were able to see this live and was able to capture it as well. Way to go and well done with the clouds.

One last shot. This is with the Lunt 60mm pressure tuned solar scope and my Celestron 236C color CMOS camera. This is the color I see in the eyepiece of this telescope. I get more detail with the mono camera but I used everything at my disposal this year to ensure good results. Thanks to everyone that has looked and those that commented.

Very cool, Jim!
I couldn't, even if I had wanted to. I was overcast.
But I'm really glad you were able to catch it!

Great catches!

Thank you Sonny.
I have learned a lot in the past four years since the last transit.

Wow, that is a nice exiting shot. That would be a nice shot for NASA to try and create looking back at the earth from somewhere in space. They may have done it, I just haven't seen one.

Thank you very much for the compliment.
I shot back to back videos to get the effect I was looking for. Maybe I’ll get to try new things in 13 years.

Amazing how small it is. I really like the 2nd, on the edge!

Thank you very much.
I was very pleased with the results of this years effort.
The best part was the almost total lack of wind.

I don’t know if anyone else tried to shoot this but here are two of my favorites. The white filter shot is with a Canon 7d Mark ii and a Canon 300mm prime and 1.4 extender. Image is cropped to pull details.
The othe image was shot with my Lunt 60mm H- Alpha telescope and a Celestron 236m monochrome CMOs. I stacked 300 frames of a 30 second video shot at 80 FPS with Autostakkert2 and wavelets adjusted for detail in Registax6.
I cropped and added color in Photoshop CC. This shot was a timing shot to have mercury touching the rim but actually over the corona sphere.
I’m really pleased with this years results. The first half of the transit was blocked by clouds but cleared at midpoint.

Might be "The Calm Before The Storm", Jim.
I remember your great transition shots from prior years, You Sunshine Superman, You!

Personally, I like a calm sun. Sitting in L.A. Traffic with a 9,000-15,000 pound trailer on the hitch, I like music to sooth the savage beast that dwells within.
While the idiots who commute every day around me try new tricks to get one stinking car ahead. (I usually pass them several times on any given run)
They do it every day. And every day they do it wrong.
(Frustrating gutter snakes has become a specialty of mine... )
Might be "The Calm Before The Storm", Ji... (show quote)

Lol. That went into the fast lane in a hurry. Don’t sugarcoat it, tell me how you really feel!

Beautiful image, Jim!

I was thinking about setting my peashooter out, and still might, but we have some slight scud clouds from the West. So still iffy.

Glad to see you posting!

Thank you Sonny.
I’ve been doing such a strange schedule working part time that it’s kept me away from the night objects.
The sun has been so quiet I have been just goofing around. I haven’t even been turning much wood.
I did get a sweet slab of a root ball from my friend in Oregon. Cut a bowl blank and some pen blanks but have only turned one pen.
