Happy Thanksgiving

It's been a while since I visited the "hog"! I have been looking an recent posts and wow, there is some outstanding work going on. Cudos to the HOG astro group.

I have had precious few clear sky nights but when I have I have run two rigs.....what I don't have is time to process them.

I have been spending a lot of time running the FFMS observatory and planetarium - along with my sports photography business and time is something I have grown to treasure - when I get it.

All of that to say - HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE and clear skies to ALL!

Same to you Ed. Hope you have all your files organized, so when you get free time you can still process.

Go Buckeyes!

Happy Thanksgiving Ed!
It's good to see you again!

I have the skies more often than not.
But my turd AVX bellied up on me.
So shopping. But with a PITA C.F.O. it's just window shopping.
Quite disappointed, and quite gun shy of the stuff available.
Which giant Chinese junk maker is the best? The answer is like fart vapor. Hard to see.

Go Shopping! (With out the wife!)

I still have an AVX that has been returned three times and is never used. What a lemon of a mount! Good luck with your search.

My advice is to make sure you can use EQMOD/EQASCOM ....my Atlas Pro mounts are awesome!

I've considered the Atlas Pro mounts (Orion)
But after the AVX, I'm gun shy of Synta Corp, who makes many of the mounts in my comfortable price range.
But the Atlas mounts do have a lot of "Good Press" about them and Orion's service.
No matter what, a mount has to work with my current ASCOM programming. I use and like Stellarium to Uber and Lyft me around the sky. Pick an object, and Stellarium tells the mount where to go.

My AVX is on it's 3rd strike, so it's out. I might someday turn it into a powered tripod by jury-rigging the motors. But I've become pretty disgusted with it.
Still, when it has worked, it did take me places. But I'm pretty savy about resetting it and keeping the AVX functioning. It's been a steep and rocky learning curve.
But a while back I decided it was not going to get any more money put into it's marginal self.

Still looking. But I was looking at the Atlas Pro lately. And you came to mind, but I couldn't recall what you had. Thank You for the recommendation.

I haven’t done a lot lately thanks to work and weather. It’s always good to see you and glad all is well.
I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and can find time to image a bit.
Go Buckeyes!
