Orion is rising earlier

I shot this early this morning using a 6” Newtonian and a Canon T2i mounted with a T ring. I am still trying to get my scope alignment correct as evidenced by my defraction spikes on the stars.
This is a single image shot at ISO 800 and 20 second exposure.
I’m pretty happy for my second effort this year.

Beautiful image, Jim!

I was thinking about setting my peashooter out, and still might, but we have some slight scud clouds from the West. So still iffy.

Glad to see you posting!

Thank you Sonny.
I’ve been doing such a strange schedule working part time that it’s kept me away from the night objects.
The sun has been so quiet I have been just goofing around. I haven’t even been turning much wood.
I did get a sweet slab of a root ball from my friend in Oregon. Cut a bowl blank and some pen blanks but have only turned one pen.

That is one wild lookin specimen!
Beautiful Pen you made there, too!

I use to love opening up a piece of wood. When you do you are the first to see what is written there.
One of our Grandson's bought a really beautiful acherage in Belfair, WA. It has a great big two story shop on it. So he and his Mom and Dad came down and we loaded my shop equipment into a PODs container and sent it up there.
Last time I was up (this summer) he was in the process of arranging the equipment. It looked like it would be a good set up. Tommy got the converted Delta lathe I mounted a 1/2 HP DC motor to, to make it an excellent turning lathe for many small projects like pens.
But I gave my Nova DVR lathe to the Son In Law, along with my MIG welder, because he's more into mechanical stuff than woodworking stuff.
So there isn't any more wood shop here. My spine is too arthritic to handle much weight anymore, so moved it along while I could send it and avoid squabbles.

As of last night, it looks like I'll have lots of time on my hands now. My Son-In-Law I've been working for is making changes in his business, so I think I won't be driving for him much or any more.
So diving back into my retirement, and helping with the Step Son's kids more. I think I will have my night moves back, and no early morning crap to have to be in bed for early in the evenings.
Besides, I have my telescope and mount working just dandy so I don't have to sit out in the cold, once it's aligned and set up. I can come in where it's warmer and run things remotely.

I have a wild hair about seeing if I can re-incorporate my Orion Imaging Flip Mirror into my telescope, again, so I can have visual and imaging for when the grandkids can stay over.
Show them the Moon through a telescope but be able to image at the flip of the mirror.
Anyway, now that I have a real working camera, I can see if I can get back to having both. Always looking at ways to tinker...

Good to see you out Jim. Good pix. I want to get the horsehead, hopefully soon. It gets in my view around 2am.
