I use a 2x extender III with my 70-200 f/2.8 IS II and have the extension tubes, but no 1.4 extender. The tube might cause you to lose the ability to focus to infinity which is what happens when just using extension tubes alone.

I believe Arthur Morris discusses this issue in his YouTube video on Extenders. You might watch that...

I'm currently using Canons 1.4 ext on my 70-200 and 100-400 lenses with good results. Is it possible to combine the 2.0 and 1.4 extenders together? If so, on a 7D2 it would be one helluva lens combo. Has anyone tried this, and if so what were the results?

Good information for sure. I might add to shoot at a higher shutter speed than you think you might need especially when shooting long focal length and or fast moving subjects.

1st hello to all

I have a t2i and am going to upgrade to the t7i..it came today..took some test pics with both cameras, same settings and in raw.when looking on computer I do not see any diff. AND the 7 is really loud. In all my research no one ever mentioned that..I also ordered an m50 mirrorless..so I'm hoping that will work for me..i guess why I'm here is the loud and for the price and age diff. I expected better.

Thanks in advance for listening.

Do you have the PhotoPills app? If not spend $10 and get it... Tons of good tutorials and tools. I’m not sure you will be able to focus on one star with your DSLR. And keep in mind that everything is moving relative to your camera...

i am a beginner and was reading here about focusing with live view for Milky Way shots.
i found Live View in my menu but, could not figure out if it was working or not. Additionally,
i couldn't find a way to use Live View to zoom in on a single star to focus, thus assuring that
the Milky Way was in focus ?? thank you in advance for any tips.my camera is a Canon Rebel T5 18-55mm.

Not a lot more color to get in my opinion. Sometimes sharpness can be impacted by the atmospheric conditions. I can suggest that you invest $10 in the PhotoPills app if you don’t have it. Tons of good tools and information there...

I would say rating is also related to cost... Something can be excellent for the price paid, but not necessarily the best available...

The %'s are the rating given by a well known gear rating site. I think they use the % to make it look more technical/scientific. They also use Excellent, good, average etc and often the % and the word descriptor don't really match. I remember seeing a camera comparison where their %'s were 10 points apart but both were rated Excellent.

I don’t know about your camera but my 1D2 can be set for both low and high speed number of frames. If you want low to be 4 and high to be 11 you just set it for those parameters. It also had an expected shutter life of 400,000...significantly more than other Canon bodies outside the 1 Series...

Whatever you say mate.

Using continuous mode to capture the peak of the action
you need to activate the shutter prior to the peak of the action...
then pray that a frame coincides with whatever moment the peak of the action is.

The saying is; "Spray And Pray"... it should be "Spray And Roll The Dice" as getting the peak
of action by relying on continuous mode is a crap shoot.

"Absurd" you say... the absurdity is high frame rates do two things well.
1. Sells more cameras (it looks good on the spec sheet)
2. Wears out the shutter mechanisms more quickly... refer point 1.

Having said all that; if you and the OP want to conform to the other absurdity,
GAS, go knock yourselves out.

The 90D or 5D4 would work depending on how much you want to spend. The 90D being a crop sensor will give you a little more reach because of the crop which might be an advantage with the lenses you have...

Hi group,
Currently, I'm shooting YouTube videos and ZOOM classes using a tripod with a macro rail positioned several inches from my fly-tying vise. I sit behind the tripod and reach over the camera to tape or teach fly tying instructions. I can't tell you how many times I accidentally "kick" the tripod out-of-alignment. It's no big deal when shooting for YT but distracting as heck when it happens in a ZOOM classroom. I've been searching for a tripod replacement that I can clamp to the table's edge. If I could find or build this type of clamp, I could mount my macro rail on it and continue my work without disruption. Do any of you have ideas about where to purchase a table-edge clamp or have ideas on how to build one? I spend several hours the other day browsing Harbor Freight looking for ideas but to no avail. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Take care & ...

There will likely be more bids in last 20 seconds, so don’t think you have won the auction just yet...

Last night I was surfing EBay and saw an auction of a refurbished Sony a7iii with a 28-70 2.8 lens up for bid from a dealer. I bid $1725.00 and am currently the highest bidder with only 6.5 hours left.

Never thinking that I would be highest bidder, this GAS attack now has me with several cameras...I want to keep my Nikon D7500 since it has been my go to camera for a few years and I have a full range of lenses for it.

I also have a Canon EOS m5 that is in excellent condition with three lenses: 15-45; 18-150;and 55-200. I use this camera for travel and really enjoy it, but now that I may be the winner of a Sony a7iii full frame, the Canon seems to be the one to go....

Here is the problem Adorama, KEH and B&H will take the Canon gear in trade for a pittance (literally pennies on the dollar)....Would like to make a bit of money on the Canon sale to offset a small portion of the price of the Sony...any suggestions for places to sell this gear?

TIA

I have this same RRS tripod and it will outlast me. There are many tripod and head reviews on TheDigitalPicture.com that may help you too...

I’ve used the RRS TVC-34L for a number of years now, and swear by it. I have used it standing in the middle of rivers in the Narrows in Zion and shooting the Crossings in Sedona, as well as many outing on beaches and the sand dunes in Death Valley. The leg joints are designed so that it is easy to dismantle for cleaning sand and silt, or for cleaning for saltwater. Reassembling is easy as well.

I’m 6’4” and the 34L is an excellent height for me, even when shooting on a downslope. No center column. I shoot off of a tripod 95% of the time, so mine getting heavy and frequent use.

The major drawback to RRS tripods is their price; they are costly. However, their design and quality make them an ideal choice for many. They are built to last and will not need replacement for many years, making them more economically reasonable than their initial price might lead one to believe. I have seen used ones on both eBay and on KEH, but they go fast. Worth a look. From your comments this might be a good investment for you.

Honestly, I'm getting discouraged. I have 2 DX bodies which do not have fine focus adjustments (Thankfully). My 2 FF bodies do. With these 2 bodies and 7 FF lenses this has been a lot of unsatisfying labor with few good results. Using the Joe Christina focusing pyramid, 3 of the FF lenses do not adjust fully for back or front focusing. Honestly I'm tempted to chuck the FF stuff and get one good bridge camera and forget about the focus adjustment happy horse pucky.
