That looks more like a hovercraft than a car. Maybe years ago I could assume that position but I believe today in my case it would be classified as elder abuse. Voss you seem to be able to find the most out of the way and interesting things. That is why you are so good at this street thing.

Don't have to go to San Juan to see this, just look around the mighty U.S. You can see it in every state.
Sad state when they can't care of their own!

I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If you voluntarily drop out of the work force, etc. no one owes you anything. If through misfortune you end up homeless you should get a helping hand but not a lifetime pass.I busted my tail off working all my life and was fortunate to always have employment. I never minded my tax money helping the unfortunate but I take great umbrage in supporting those that won't even try to help themselves.

These vehicles may look like junk, but when fixed up, will be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Great photos.

True but it will take quite a few grand and a lot of elbow grease to get them to that point. Like most hobbies they can be both rewarding and costly.

At least it is warm. Imagine being homeless in the winter with snow, ice and wind. We should all remember we are only a lost job, a major illness or some other financial train wreck from a similar fate. Sometimes even the best laid plans go awry.

I just can't get over those fancy chrome wheels on the van type truck. They have to be worth more than all three of those vehicles put together. Does luster attract customers?

Can't say when it comes to my MIL. She got in a real spat with my wife about five years before her demise. She told my wife she didn't want her at her funeral and my my wife honored her wishes. Whether anyone cried we will never know and to be completely honest could not care one way or the other.

My Olympus OMD EM5 has saved my days, pisses me off when some a$$ holes belittle the realty of someone’s situation

Don't use the term a $$ holes disparagingly. After all an a$$hole has a purpose, you have to wonder about the ones you are making reference to.

Looks soapy so it is probably clean enough to wash the pavement with.

I think you will find a lot of time it is the clumsiness of large equipment that is an ovwhelming factor more than an extra pound or two. As for me I would rather carry a nice portable P & S than a big old DSLR with a lens sticking 12 inches out in front of it. My shots will never be so noteworthy that anyone will know or care what they were taken with. Just my two cents on the subject.

This photo really sparked a lively conversation. It is amazing the questions a seemingly simple photo taken in a parking lot could raise. The best part is that I think everyone learned something from it. I know I did. Good show.

That sure is a familiar scenario. I see it with my wife at least once and usually two or three times a week. That is probably why the mens handbag fad died off rather rapidly when it was the latest thing several years ago.

Love the interaction of the people. Excellent series for a first shot at street. I look forward to seeing more. You are well on your way.

There are two things I would want if they are available. First would be an optical viewfinder and if small size is a concern probably more easily available on a used camera. The second would be AA batteries for a power source. There are some really choice bargains available on ebay from time to time that have both these options.

I think if I were you I would look into propane or natural gas if it is available Jerry. I just put in a new propane furnace and A/C unit for about $5800 installed. I do believe gas furnaces are less expensive than oil but that is something you would have to check out.

[quote=DaveO]Keep showing us how clever you aren't. I made no assumptions. You have very clearly illustrated what a boob you are. A big Bronx cheer to you!
I made a simple observation and your thin skin couldn't handle it.[/qu

Perhaps but was your observation necessary? It seemed to me as a bystander to be a snarky comment to demean the OP. Don't climb up on your all knowing high horse until you are perfect and that will never happen.
