Great pics au2. I'm new to digital and my memory ain't what it used to be so I've ruined a lot of pics.I live at the veterans home in Yountville Ca. so most of my current photos are of things around the campus (it's like living in a 550 acre park). How do I attach photos to my post? I'm new to that part too.

When you reply to a post just click on choose file under File/picture attachments and follow directions underneath.
Very easy to do on this sight.

I would highly suggest using a tripod if not already. Its very hard to get a perfect pic shooting a distance and moving target without one while zooming in on subject. Telephoto lenses would work well for these type of shots. What type of camera are you using?

You should be able to bring up setting s on your camera and get a detailed settings. You also can go into the settings on your camera and and make sure the raw settings are enabled on your camera to be able to take in this mode. All cameras will not necessarily have this feature.

I have not seen anything about the "quality" of the image for the different cards. On the otherhand the recording speed seems to be an issue for some but I belive most of the name brands are going to be pretty close on that. One piece of advice that I have seen several places is to not use a card much over 4G and do not completly fill them. The idea being that if you in fact lose a card or one goes bad you have not just lost everything from the trip or your shoot. I have seen the theory that to complety fill a card you run a higher risk of it going bad - can't say I understand if there is any more risk of that but, I see no harm of doing it that way.
I have not seen anything about the "quality&q... (show quote)

I think that is excellent advice on building up a collection of cards that fairly inexpensive while also finding out for yourselve the ones you like most. I personally have lost pics due to corrupted files which ruined the whole group and am now a firm believer in many smaller cards....Buddha very wise...

if I am really tryin' to get a close up and can do it I use a tripod and a shutter release, some say to use mirror lock up also, but I haven't done that..

What is mirror lock up? How do you do it, and what are the supposed effects?

Just wondering what i could do with some shots i got of some cool pics while cutting out the pic taker as he may not be dressed appropriately for the occasion. I might add there is no dress code around these parts at least thats what I tell my wife. Now now now I'm not saying thats its me although there could possibly be a slight resemblance. Your help in solving this minor mattor would bo greatly appreciated. you know sometimes with the circumstances before you you only have time to grab the camera and run...
