Rolleiflex and Leica maybe? Or whatever it was Ansel Adams hauled around in his car - he got some good ones from time to time. ;-)

He shot a lot of, I believe, mostly large format.

No Nikon, no Canon, no Pentax, no Minolta, no Olympus. How did anyone manage to take good pictures?

I have bought quite a few cameras and lenses on Mercari, and a few other things. At least 50% of the cameras and lenses were bad. But, if the seller lists them as good, Mercari is good at refunding your money. But three days is all you have to get it done. And they require photo proof of the faults, not always possible of course. You can’t demonstrate that a film counter doesn’t work. I never bought anything there without asking for and usually getting 20% off. The photo sellers are amateurs who are also selling baseball cards and shoes. And yes, there are scams. But not by Mercari. I got a really great Olympus OM1n with lens for $50. And a Minolta XE-7 with 50mm f1.4 for $60. I haven’t sold anything on the site. I prefer eBay. I have been selling on eBay for 20 years and have 100% positive feed back on more than 1,600 transactions. eBay and Mercari are fine. Just use common sense. And have fun.

OK it may irritates you a bit but do you want to deny Jerry his simple pleasure of doing it? Of course he is within his right for doing so.

And mine for finding it annoying.

I put Jerry on ignore, thinking I wouldn’t get any more of his minutiae and subjective movie and tv recommendations. He’s still here only with the word ignore after his name. I’ve gained nothing. It’s hard to ignore his 90+% listings. I’m sure Jerry is a nice guy, but please, please somebody, something else. Anything!

UHH will be so much more enjoyable. Using the Ignore List I no longer will see the minutiae, the boring, the highly subjective. OK, it takes away 90% of the general chit-chat, but it will be worth it. Now you may attack me.

It’s nice to know that at age 87 there is still hope, there are still opportunities, still dreams. Without these things, why even live? I choose to live.

In the late 90’s, visiting my brother in the Highlands in New Jersey, my brother said, “How did all these people get in my room?” He followed this with saying it was from his favorite Frank Sinatra cd. He then proceeded to play it and then gave it to us. It’s on the hard drive of our car. Not only do we play it regularly, whenever we hear Frank say, “How did,,,” I think about my brother who died about six months later. We too love Frank. We saw him perform in Milwaukee some time in the 80’s. He is on my list as one of the people I want to meet in Heaven. I plan to sing with him there. Why not? I sing with him now in the car all the time. And, today I sang “Fly me to the moon” with him.

Just yesterday a caller told me he had a new Ford Bronco and a cashiers check for me. I might have missed that call if I had blocking. He hasn’t delivered them yet. Maybe tomorrow, probably Monday.

I went to Alaska recently and only wanted to take one lens. I bought their 28-200mm. It was wonderful!

I too grew up in the same wonderful environment, and I fully expect that our great grandchildren, when they are our age will be posting their “good old days” remembrances. I’ll bet if we could find it, our great grandparents also had similar thoughts. But, yeah, those days of our youth really were wonderful.
