The other day someone suggested that “General Chit-chat” be changed to “Jerry’s Page”. My reaction at the time was “Ha ha…that’s funny” Then today I open the page and all the topics, save one, are Jerry’s. I may have to wrack my brain today to come up with a topic!😳😂

If you don't like his posts then Yeah change it to Jerry's Page because he won't post there.

If you go straight to a section, the ignored person's topics will show up, but with a label "ignored"

Years ago, Chit-Chat was a lively, active section with many posters and lots of humor. Each day the entire first page was new. If a post didn't receive many responses it would be on the second page before the day was out. It was not as mundane as it is now.

You're a great apologist for UHH, Linda. Somebody made their observation about how Chit-Chat was being dominated and I made my observation about how it had changed. Admin wanted a wholesome section that family members could view and got it. It's very G rated. Very geriatric.

Most of us on UHH are old and getting older, so no surprise that Chit-Chat is geriatric. G-Rated, mundane...sure. That is why Admin created The Attic. Keep the vitriol in one place.
Main discussion section has plenty of "lively" interaction, if you're interested in checking.

It wasn't always that way. The problem is that good people left but weren't replaced. Why put up with threats? Hence the Jerry show. I can't blame Jerry, it's just that nobody else is posting. THAT is a problem, especially since Brian gave up and left. Chit-Chat attracted enough people 10-13 years ago. Why couldn't it now? The format needs to change. For one, recognize it as a forum for adults (not an adult forum, there is a difference) and don't be so worried about people getting offended. People need to have a bit thicker skins. Limit the number of threads an individual can submit each day. Now, I know my suggestions will not be thought highly of, but they're my suggestions to liven the section back up.

I'm not on any other sites for discussion (except about photography), so I don't know what's out there for seniors or if anyone cares about lively yet civil. Is that even possible in 2024? What kinds of discussion are you looking for?

'Way back in another millennium my wife's doctor referred to her as 'Senior', which is a common designation for us older people. But when she turned 80, her doctor started to refer to her as 'geriatric'.
I think I like 'Senior' better, but I fit the other term.
OTOH, I can't always claim to be rated G. Mundane, perhaps. Pragmatic.
