Number 1, because of the unusual pose.
Thanks. Yes, the head cocked just so with the bright, liquid eyes. Thanks for viewing and writing. Much appreciated. jak
Thanks for responding, Vince. You agree with the majority. Have a nice evening. jak
Ah, Darren, that’s very kind. I like all three also. I just wondered if other viewers would have a favorite. Thanks for writing. jak

Yes, there was a group of about 7 crows who chased the Cooper’s Hawk into the tree surrounding it in my photo. After a while, he noticed me snapping pictures and bent his head to the side, watching me.
Thanks for taking the time to view these photos and comment.

Thank you very much, woodweasel. Hope you have a very nice Thursday. Jak
#1 for its clarity and color. The tilted head is a great plus. Mahalo for sharing.

No. 1 of course. He is posing and it is sharp.
The first one. I like when you can get the subject to look at the camera. In this the hawk is looking at the camera with both eyes and sort of giving you a model's pose. It's not easy to get the bird to do this. It is tack sharp and really shows the features and beauty of the bird. Can I ask what you f stop was? Did you try to blur the background?

Love the Coopers shot because of the birds eyes and also for the contrast & colors. I like #3 also for the bird in flight but the background or lack of it is distracting.

That all true. A much more traditional bird portrait. Thanks for sharing your preference. jak
