The first one. I like when you can get the subject to look at the camera. In this the hawk is looking at the camera with both eyes and sort of giving you a model's pose. It's not easy to get the bird to do this. It is tack sharp and really shows the features and beauty of the bird. Can I ask what you f stop was? Did you try to blur the background?
The Coopers was distracted in the first shots by the crows buzzing its perch. I waited for better poses and was lucky that it turned and cocked its head while staring at me. Just luck. I almost always shoot at 5.5 or 6.3 using my Nikkor 200-500 mm zoom. 5.6 is wide open. I try to get a soft background, but there’s limits with this lens and trying to fill the frame with the subject. Fairly lucky with this one.
