Also, check your insurance company. If you are not using it to make money, you may have coverage.
You might look into finding a “for parts only” lens for the needed part.
Is it possible you may be able to have it repaired under your homeowners policy

I posted this twice: this lens is replaced with a refurbed at a very high price. No one will repair it.
Thanks for responding, Jim. I am not holding out any hope, but I sure do appreciate everyone on here who has tried to help me.

While I have never seen your username, you must not like me or my post (for some reason) to you since you haven’t acknowledged it. For what ever reasons, Panasonic wants to sell you a refurbished lens in case of damage to this zoom.
No repair facility is going to touch your 100-400 because Panasonic is not selling parts. Go directly to Panasonic if you want to purchase a refurbished unit.
You are not the only one with a damaged 100-400. Good luck!
Has any Hedgehogers had experience with Abe's from Main?
You will be surprised at just what your homeowners insurance covers. The camera is normally a content of your home, just because it was out of the home when it happened they should still cover it. Some years ago i had my car broken into and items i had in it taken, TV, Video products etc, i was moving house. I was surprised to learn that the Car insurance did not cover the contents but the Homeowners insurance did. They paid for everything, minus the deductible of course.

Hi, I am sorry, I think I clicked "reply" at the wrong spot or something. At any rate, I do appreciate your response, which is very honest. I have put in a call to an authorized repair center who asked me to send them pictures. I have read all these responses and am prepared for the worst -- especially since I haven't heard back from them. Again, thank you for responding to my plea for help!

Agree...this is a known issue with this lens. I doubt anyone will touch it.
Now's the time to switch to the Olympus 300mm f4 with EMC-14.
Also check with your homeowners insurance.
So sorry, I do thank you for your honest response!
Yes, not happy with Panasonic. Thank you.
I am hoping everyone who has responded can see this -- a big THANK YOU to you all! I am investigating all my options.

I purchased a Panasonic Leica 100-400 mm lens and a Lumix GX8. When purchasing, I made the mistake of buying the Square Trade insurance wrongly thinking it was for both. But, it was apparently for the camera only. The camera, with the lens attached and in the camera bag, got knocked to a floor, and now both the camera and lens and lens are broken. Square Trade is handling the repair of my camera. But I don't know exactly what to do about this very expensive lens. I took it in to a camera repair shop in Asheville, NC, who said that the lens mount as well as some electrical connections are broke, but they cannot fix the lens mount because they cannot get a part for it. They said the lens looked fine. The lens was purchased (B & H) 4/18. Naturally, the warranty doesn't cover an accidental drop. I am sick about this. Any good advice? :( Thank you, friends!

If you have either Homeowners, Renters or Comprehensive insurance you might try filing it.
