I purchased a Panasonic Leica 100-400 mm lens and a Lumix GX8. When purchasing, I made the mistake of buying the Square Trade insurance wrongly thinking it was for both. But, it was apparently for the camera only. The camera, with the lens attached and in the camera bag, got knocked to a floor, and now both the camera and lens and lens are broken. Square Trade is handling the repair of my camera. But I don't know exactly what to do about this very expensive lens. I took it in to a camera repair shop in Asheville, NC, who said that the lens mount as well as some electrical connections are broke, but they cannot fix the lens mount because they cannot get a part for it. They said the lens looked fine. The lens was purchased (B & H) 4/18. Naturally, the warranty doesn't cover an accidental drop. I am sick about this. Any good advice? :( Thank you, friends!

Check with your credit card company. Many credit cards have a warranty benefit for situations like yours. Good luck

There may be a slim change your credit card company may insure you. Other than that, bleak!

Things happen. Brush yourself off and get up. I would send it to Panasonic for an estimate.

Unfortunately the only shop that can get those parts in the USA is Precision Camera Repair in Connecticut, Panasonics authorized repair center. Contact them about a repair estimate, you will need to send them the lens.

I will not hold it against you as a retailer, but that particular lens, Panasonic doesn’t repair. They sell you a refurbed for like $1800.

The OP is screwed as far as Panasonic fixing it, but maybe her credit card company can help the OP

check your home owners/rental insurance, if you carried coverage for the camera as part of a property insurance, that may cover the cost!~

Just talked to Precision Camera and they no longer repair Panasonic products. The authorized repair center is now:

They will not repair your lens. Join www.mu-43.com and search for the threads talking about this issue.

Don't you have some time to place insurance on a purchase? I would speak to B&H!

bite the bullet, breathe deep, take your time, save up again and start over with a new or refurb, ultimately, the lens is worth it.
