It won't be a problem, by the time you figure out your plan, it will be gone! You are right to be careful in this dealing but there are people that just want to get rid of something and money is not a real concern. Just to put a different spin on this, if it were someone that needed the money and just did not know the value, would you take advantage of them and purchase it without comment on its real value?
Most of these things are scams, Bebu. I have seen it done with houses as well. I'm not sure exactly how it works, but if it's too good to be true, avoid it.
Either one for that price would be a deal. So meet at public place and tell them up front your not coming alone. Bet it's sold when you say that. Or they'll pull the offended that you don't trust them bit. And respond that you are not gullible but will buy if they want to show up.

Agree but better yet in the police station.

Tell him you'll be arriving with six armed men. That will guarantee that he's a no-show.

That would be me. When I have a camera - or something - that has been sitting unused for a long time, I put it on ebay. I know I'll get a fair price, and I'll have money, instead of something sitting on a shelf gathering dust.
Friend with a gun? If you think it is that dangerous, stay AWAY! It is either stolen or a scam...

Or it's an ordinary camera owner who want to sell his camera - and not get shot.

If I were to buy this camera which is indicated at a local location should I go with a friend who carries a gun?
