In Texas we have a lot of porch thief’s, they follow fedex and ups trucks, then in broad daylight they walk up and take the package. They will then sell it for whatever they can get for the item. So it would be possible for someone to get everything, including manuals and accessories. I am not saying that this is the case in this particular offering but it is possible. This used to occur before Christmas, now it happens every day.

We have them here in Florida too... I know my UPS driver personally, lives about two miles from me...we talked about that one day and he said I didn't have a whole lot to worry about...I asked what he meant; he said - in certain areas in town, and less desirable areas, its an issue, out here in the country where you live, its big dogs and shotguns that make the real difference!!! Same thing with theft and at night - except its big dogs, floodlights and shotguns!!!! He said my "Never mind the dog - beware of owner" sign was probably all I need...…...

This is the picture found on craigs list that I wrote about last week. Who would "sell" all this for $800.00?

A drug addict, a pissed off spouse, someone that just inherited this and has no idea what it's worth, a thief, someone that won it as a prize and needs a quick sale, a scammer, cops putting together a sting operation, who knows???

Just checked the Portland Craigslist and that ad seems to have been taken down.

Probably because the item is sold. I got him down to $625 including shipping.

Be sure to let us know what's in the box when it arrives! 😂

Same ad has been running on Denver's craiglist. I have figured exactly what the scam is. Anybody know?

Well, it is Canon equipment after all...
Yeah, that was a stupid comment but I was expecting it from somebody.

If I am a thief I wouldn't sell them for so low of a price. That makes it too good to be true and also cause suspicion as in this case. I would sell them at a good price so that it would sell fast but not too low like in this case.

Someone who buys a camera like the 5D IV is likely a prudent person and would want to go on Canon's site to register his camera. If this were a stolen camera, it would be at that point he would realize he'd just bought a stolen camera if the previous owner had already registered it. I would assume that, if the buyer was a straight-up guy, he'd make efforts to return it to it's rightful owner. And bemoan the fact that he was out $800.00!

You might want to clean off your monitor. Looks like a top-line 5D IV that retails new for $3,199 this morning ... And the kit lens is likely a 24-105 f/4L IS II, another $1,099 if purchased new ala carte.

In the eyes of Nikon fanboys all Canons are low end.

Usually people look used equipment up on the web to see what they are going for. Yes, they may be computer challenge or whatever, but I wouldn't bet on it.
