I had a Lumix FZ1000. it's an awesome camera with it's larger 1" sensor. not to good for macro. but great for everything else.

I was in the market for a bridge camera and checked out the Panasonic FZ2500. It shoots 4K and has a 25-1 zoom Leica Elmarit lens. A truly awesome camera for the money. You can get one refurbished for about $899.00. New, they're about $1200.

Any suggestion for a bridge camera not more than $1.000.00

It would help if we knew your focal length desires. The LX100 is excellent, but, only 24-75mm FF equivalent; the FZ1000 is 25-400. Both are well under $1,000.

I'm guessing that first decimal point is a comma. There are lots to choose from in the 1,000 $ category, US and Canadian. For the money one of your best options is a Sony A6300 kit. Personally, I'm waiting for the G1X III to hit the street.

A Sony A6300 interchangeable lens camera is not a Bridge camera, it is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.

I would definitely purchase the Panasonic Lumix FZ300. It's about $500 now on B & H Photo. No tax if you live outside of NY or NJ. It has a 24X zoom (600mm equivalent). One of the best features is its 2.8 aperture throughout the zoom! Excellent in low light situations (for a bridge camera). It shoots JPEG and RAW. 4K video. Water and Dust proofed or resistant. Can add teleconverter to lens for added distance. Leica lens. Many different modes so highly adjustable. For me the only drawback is the smaller sensor (1 2/3) Sony makes a bridge camera with a 1" sensor but it as you zoom out towards 600mm, the aperture narrows to 4.0 not the constant 2.8 of the Panny. It also costs almost 3 times as much as the Panasonic. I shoot at indoor concerts from my seat so the wide aperture is very important. I am sure you realize that there are bridge cameras with greater zoom but the IQ is not that sharp and the further out that one zooms , hand shake is magnified. Need very steady hands or a support. Also, many cameras today have poor manuals. Graham Houghton offers amazingly excellent video tutorials on You Tube and even offers low cost thorough manuals from his blog or from Amazon. His work is a life saver.

Mirrorless yes!!! Not Bridge !!!!

But originally known as EVIL! Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens----or----EVIL!

You can make a Mirrorless into a Bridge Camera by affixing your chosen range and quality of zoom lens permanently into the lens mount with epoxy. More good choices DIY.

And, yes, I've done it. No dirt on sensor.

Is anyone interested in my Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II bridge camera with a permanent long zoom attached.

Don't forget the Canon SX60 HS superzoom bridge camera, 21mm-1365mm equiv, shoots raw as well as jpeg. Available for $380 refurb at Canon's website. The aforementioned Nikon P900 is also popular, has a longer zoom reach, 2000mm (I think) but doesn't shoot raw. Want to spend more? The Sony RX10 iii or iv are held pretty high, max of 600mm (?) but pricier.

I'm not sure why no one has suggested the 1" sensor, 25X zoom, Canon PowerShot G3 X.

Good point! The G3 X has gotten decent reviews but there's always been a caveat of "but, there are better choices." Rumor has it that Canon is readying a G3 X II for release right after the first of the year. If the world is pleased with it, I could see selling my SX60, G16, and Sony a6000 with the intent of it becoming my goto travel camera.

For $1,000 you could have a real nice camera and lens that will have a much bigger sensor and better optics, which comes in handy if your want to print anything larger than 8" X 10". Even the screen view will show better quality.

My bridge/purse camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS60. Have been using it more than my Pentax K-50 DSLR.

General Imaging (GE) has the X600. So do I. Cost less than $150. Absolutely fine camera.
