Just recently had FedEx deliver a 84x20x8 inch package worth $5,000 to Texas instead of Michigan. Crew at local FedEx messed up the address with some other packages. Fortunately the fellow who received it was honest and FedEx was able to pick it up and deliver it to Michigan...although a week late. And they charged us for the reshipment. So, we still are protesting that. Also, you cannot insure a package of that value with FedEx so it was a little dicey for a couple days... Problem is they hire people who don't care and take care at too many places today. At least with their tracking we knew where they delivered it...

Best,
Todd Ferguson

That's right, you're always covered when you request/demand a signature and places like B&H and Apple won't deliver high priced items without it.

In my neighborhood, like yours, nothing ever goes missing and the carrier has learned that it's safe to leave things in certain neighborhoods, so they blow off getting the package signed for. However, that does not exempt them from responsibility if they leave something without getting a signature and you don't receive it.

I ordered a MacBook Pro from Apple a few years ago. It didn't arrive when it was supposed to and then I got word that it had been delivered. Needless to say, I was freaked. I called Apple and they were somewhat suspicious that I was trying to get away with something.

They did manage to track down the package at a neighbor's townhouse up the street. The specific carrier guy was sent back to investigate and he found the package lying at the front door a day later where he had mistakenly left it.

Obviously, this could have been a disaster. A big box from Apple, snowbirds away for the season. I would have been covered though. They did not have my signature which could easily be proven.

Don't worry, after it leaves a REPUTABLE store, it is the carrier's responsibility to get it to the right locale, and at least one or the other, store or carrier will make it right. No one wants a scathing review on "RipoffReport.com." It's much worse than having to replace something that the buyer never got. Just stay on it and raise your voice where you need to.

When it comes to deliveries it can be fun living in the country. One package was left in a tree. An expensive monitor was delivered to someone else who knew me so I did manage to receive it. Another package was delivered to a hunting camp on top of a mountain. I have no idea how the driver managed to get the delivery truck up the steep
dirt road. And recently a piece of equipment was delivered to my neighbor's house who was nice enough to bring it to me. I was looking for a small package
and after making the rounds of where it might be I found it in my wood pile. Now that Amazon is thinking of drones I guess I should buy a new ladder when they leave
the delivery on my roof.

Sorry to hear that happen. I live in an urban area and "porch shopping" is a well-known practice.
It won't help with this event, but I do one of two things: have it delivered to my office, or have it held at a near-by UPS service center for pickup.

If you are in a smaller community, an option might be to work with a local shop owner to hold deliveries for you. Not as convenient, and maybe not a viable option for you.

Good luck with the resolution.

I have my expensive items delivered to my local UPS store. It costs $5 but is worth it. Biggest problem is the sellers that will only ship to the PayPal address. When the seller makes that rule I just move on, there are always other deals.

I think the problem has become much more prevalent since most carriers have adopted the "No Signature Required" policies! It leaves the products much more open to "going missing" by the drivers or any thief driving around the neighborhood especially around the holidays. I think some of the carriers have a "ring the bell and then leave" (ring & run?) policy; at least if someone is home, the package is taken in even if damaged--a different fight for a different day!

When Tamron returned a lens that I had sent in for service, there was a $4.00 charge for the "signature required"; I didn't even think about not using it--$4.00 vs. $800.00 replacement cost made the choice easy.

Shippers are notoriously "not liable" when things go awry. I found out quite by accident that even if the shipping originator pays extra for "signature required," the delivery guy just signs off on it. I was told by a UPS driver friend of mine that things shipped to a residential address get signed off by the driver, not the actual receiver because, "no one is ever home and we waste too much time and money on them." Crushed boxes, empty packages, etc., are nearly always dismissed by shipping companies as not their fault. It's a vicious world out there in shipping land. Items shipped to a business are required to get a signature from an actual person at the business, so I did that for a long time. My post office now accepts shipments from FedX and UPS for me, and since then I haven't had an issue! Don't know what their secret is.

Use "ripoffreport.com" at your own risk. I got warnings of "Ransomware is on this site" when I took a look at it. You don't want Ransom-Ware on your computer.

I ordered a Canon 18-135mm STM lens from Mpb . It's an online camera store selling used gear like KEH camera . It was supposed to arrive by Thursday September 14th . I had an event the next day to shoot . The next day came and nothing arrived . I called and Fedex and they claim they delivered it . But on Thursday my wife was home and on Friday we were both home . And in 20 plus years nothing was ever stolen off our porch . But I suppose there's a first time for everything . We went down to the police station and filed a police report and now we are waiting for Fedex to do some sort of investigation with Mpb. Did this ever happen to anyone here and what was the outcome ?
Advice to fellow HOGS ; always request ( Signature Required ) on all of your orders .

Fedex will do nothing. They are too big and do not care. It is up to the shipper. Ask for your money back. It is not your problem iif you did not get it.

I would get back to the store. It's their responsibility to get it the product in your hands. They are the shipper's customer, and they need to negotiate with them. In the future, if possible, I wouldn't cut it so close from ordering date to when you need to use (product). Sh*t happens. >Alan

Here in the L.A. Area & in Other Major Areas Around the Country this is a "MAJOR PROBLEM!!!"...

Package Theft Is So Rampant Here in Southern California I Lost Count!

A Lot of People are Buying OnLine Today, & It's Being Sent To Their Crib, They Aint Home, & Because the Drivers Like FedEx, UPS, Etc Have a Schedule & They Leave it on the Front Steps, or The Lobby of Their Apartment, & ''BAM!!!" You got Victimized with Package Theft!

It is a Major Problem, & Here in California Thanks to Prop 47 Passed by Voters in November 2014, These Package Stealing Bastards Get Very Little Time Served in the Joint! Hell... They do Their Short Stint in County Jail, Not the California State Prison System, Due to Realignment because of Prison Overcrowding in the Golden State in 2011, if it was in a Southern State or a Red Law & Order State, The Package Thief's Would do HARD TIME Over This!

The Victims don't Know What to Do Over Package Theft? Amazon Placed Big Yellow Boxes at 7-11 Stores & Other Locations to Where People Can Get Their Packages Safely, UPS Customers Could get Their Packages at a UPS Store, & Freaking FedEx, Which is More about Profits Than Dealing with Package Thefts, I Have No Answers for Them?

I Have No Other Comments For This Matter!

My problem with USPS signature required is that the carrier rarely even attempts to get signature. She just puts the "attempt" notice in the mailbox and I have to trek to the post office to get (last time) my Df body!

Having dealt extensively with KEH, your online store was not "like KEH". All of KEH's equipment sales are sent requiring a signature which has caused me quite a bit of hassle over the years when not home to receive and sign. When you sort out what happened to the shipment being discussed, you should consider going with KEH rather than someone like KEH ...

I never had anything stolen, that said I still installed a Ring doorbell pro. This records everyone that comes on or near my porch, or front lawn and alerts me. For $250 it was peace of mind, also I don't have to stop working when those pesky salesman come to my door. The unit allows you listen to them and answer them right from your phone or computer.

I worked for FedEx for 29 years as a delivery driver (recently did early retirement) and yes, packages can be misdelivered but most drivers will do all they can to retrieve that pkg. and deliver it to the correct address. I felt really bad when that happened to me. As for signature required, a driver will be reprimanded and written up or even suspended if they sign off on a pkg that was to be signed for by the recipient. Most drivers do care about their customers and want to give good service. I delivered to 30% business and 70% residential and most of my customers were regulars and I knew them by name. I realize that everything today is seemingly based on how fast production is but quality is still what most drivers want to give their customers.
