I ordered a Canon 18-135mm STM lens from Mpb . It's an online camera store selling used gear like KEH camera . It was supposed to arrive by Thursday September 14th . I had an event the next day to shoot . The next day came and nothing arrived . I called and Fedex and they claim they delivered it . But on Thursday my wife was home and on Friday we were both home . And in 20 plus years nothing was ever stolen off our porch . But I suppose there's a first time for everything . We went down to the police station and filed a police report and now we are waiting for Fedex to do some sort of investigation with Mpb. Did this ever happen to anyone here and what was the outcome ?
Advice to fellow HOGS ; always request ( Signature Required ) on all of your orders .

I, when possible, have my camera gear shipped to a local UPS or Fedex facility, have them hold it until I can picked it up myself.

With all of the comments posted - the first one and the one in front of mine were the only two that actually will prevent any questions about whether an item was delivered. "Signature Required" or pick it up yourself.

Unfortunately there is a scam going on where dubios sellers ship items to the correct city but not to the actual buyer, they ship to an evidently complicient address where it then shows as “Delivered”. There was an article on tv the other day where a TV problem solver reporter got involved and got the buyer a refund. But this is a scam that is happening quite often. Lesson, buy only from established sellers or risk getting scammed.

I had a package from B&H that was scheduled for delivery one day last week by FEDEX. Got a confirmation on my phone that the "Package has been delivered" at 3:10 PM, which was about 15 minutes prior to getting the message. I went out and looked on my front porch....no package in sight. So based on prior experiences with FEDEX I went to my neighbor's houses on both sides of me. Sure enough, on one of my neighbor's porches there was my package and another package that was addressed to my wife. I called FEDEX and tried to submit a complaint on their "Chat Line". The agent I talked to said "There is nothing I can do". I have had similar experiences with FEDEX and UPS. The drivers are in such a hurry they don't take time to confirm the address before tossing the package.

Fed Ex came to my house twice this month with a delivery that was not mine.

I got a box from UPS put in my garage last Christmas. I opened it and found all sorts of goodies from LL Bean. I figured a usual gift box from my sister. In the bottom was a pair of boots not close to my size. I flipped the lid closed and found it was addressed to someone on the next street. I played Santa and delivered it.

I am retired and have a sign on my door "DELIVERY - I AM HOME, JUST RING BELL AND KNOCK HARD ON DOOR TWICE!" MOST do, my regular mail carrier doesn't (I have to mention it to her as she is fairly new). I have RING camera/doorbell. One day a UPS package was left in front of door (he didn't knock) but the RING caught the crack head coming up and picking up the package. Unfortunately, my ATT DSL service if pretty bad and the picture wasn't sharpest. Still, I could have picked him out on the street and I sent the picture to the police, a detective came out, I gave him a hard copy of it. Nothing came of it (didn't expect it to). If no one is shot, they don't pursue many thefts. Fortunately, it was only $8 worth of tie-wraps, so the thief didn't get much. Most retailers will send tracking number and I know the "normal" times FED EX, UPS and USPS deliver, and I AM home a lot, plus the RING sends motion/doorbell ring to my phone, so if I missed the delivery, I can call neighbor. Anything over $50 I ask for signature required (some will charge extra fee for that). UPS and FED EX regulars are pretty good at knocking and ringing the bell. Sorry about the loss of the lens. I ordered my camera and two EF lenses online, but had all 3 sent to my work office (locked door which UPS has key to). I'm old enough to remember when you didn't have to fret over every delivery - how old is that? :-)

You may want to read this:

http://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/letters/blog.pl?/pl/2015/5/1430855475.html

The summary is an unscrupulous seller will find an address in the same zip code for the purpose of obtaining a delivery signature. The ship an empty package or one filled with magazines or rocks or whatever to that address. The carrier does not care beyond that - if someone signs for it, they are no longer responsible, and you are out $$$ with little you can do other than to request copies of the signature, the actual deliver address, etc.

Good luck.

My ex ordered 3 pairs of shoes through the mail and for some reason put 143 (neighbor) not 146 (our house). Neighbors were friends from church and the lady came over praising God how He had blessed her with new shoes just her size! We debated telling her (I said just forget it, order some more) but wife didn't want neighbor to be misled, so she told her and said keep the shoes (of course, she wouldn't)

I always have problems with Fedex, however, 1 and a half years ago I ordered a d750 from Crutchfield to be delivered with signature delivery. I was waiting patiently for the package as it usually gets delivered around 6 pm. Nothing. I decided to open my door at 7 pm and there it was. Never signed for it. When I inquired as to why it wasn’t signed for by me, they showed me a picture of a signature that was not mine.

Any bets it was the driver's signature?

I have increasing experiences with both FedEx and UPS, telling me that my package had been delivered, then discovered that this was not the case. In two circumstances, the packages were not even in the State!

We have found FedEx to be very unreliable. Just last week they claimed to have delivered an item to our front porch - we live in the middle of the woods and there is no way it would have been stolen (it still hasn't been located)! They have left expensive computer equipment at the bottom of our 1000' lane as well as an order which was left at an abandoned property a quarter mile from us. We have begun requesting that orders be sent via UPS - we've never had a problem with them.

I live in a complex of garden style apartments, because of the security of the buildings all deliveries ate too go to the central office and clubhouse. There isn't really much of a covered entrance to the buildings. I recently had Fed-Ex drop my package, a computer part, on the side walk in the rain. When I complained they said the driver tried to leave it with the office but they refused it. When I asked the facility manager manager, she said they never stopped. I now use strictly USPS or UPS.

Sorry to hear that happen. I live in an urban area and "porch shopping" is a well-known practice.
It won't help with this event, but I do one of two things: have it delivered to my office, or have it held at a near-by UPS service center for pickup.

If you are in a smaller community, an option might be to work with a local shop owner to hold deliveries for you. Not as convenient, and maybe not a viable option for you.

Good luck with the resolution.

Several years ago, I was expecting a package, with a delivery confirmation. I got notice it was delivered to me, but I never received it. I then found out the delivery confirmation, confirms delivery someplace, but not necessarily where it was supposed to be delivered.
Very frustrating

Our mail carrier knows us by name (maybe we buy TOO much "stuff"!). He always rings the doorbell when he leaves something. During the holidays last year the doorbell rang - I went right to the door and as I opened the door a guy was walking towards the door - he stopped when he saw me, and quickly asked if I needed lawn care. When I declined he returned to a ratty pick-up truck with no "lawn care" sign. They slowly drove off and I realized that they were probably following the USPS truck. I got in my car and watched them hang back and park while several packages were delivered. The FEDEX truck drove up and they pulled out and followed it. I followed them and called the police, but they saw me and took off before I could photograph them in the act. We live in a pretty upscale neighborhood. People in poor neighborhoods don't have expensive toys delivered, though... We have also had mail stolen from our mailbox (opened and found torn up a block away). We no longer use it for outgoing mail. Signature-on delivery is a good idea anywhere. Amazon also has "Amazon Lockers" in various locations where deliveries can be made to a safe place and where you can go pick it up.
