Sorry, Bebu, it most certainly is. Why do yo think Adobe has Lightroom Mobile?

OK then! So company like Nikon for example they would wait until the sales of their D850 goes slow then they throw in a Samsung J3 when you buy a D850. So instead of a camera phone you have camera and phone.

Has ANYONE noticed... these are not phones anymore; these are personal devices with communication and organizational features built in; a phone just being one of the communication devices as well as the camera being another device. A " REAL " camera is a relative term; always something better, always something worse. All these comparisons are a waste of time.

By their ubiquitous nature, they have eliminated the market for point-and-shoot cameras, putting financial pressure on the camera companies. The sensors that are developed for smart phones may find their way into the remaining small- sensor cameras, and their processors / algorithms may eventually become a part of even the fanciest cameras.

I am forced to use my DH film Canon EOS 620; I can't buy a new camera. The cost to develop is cheaper than any money that I could save up for a digital mirrorless camera. Maybe the digital mirrorless cameras will come down in price after Christmas so that is my goal to buy one then. With the Apple iPhone X as competition, I don't know what the camera companies are going to do. From what I've read, the Apple iPhone X is going to be spectacular. I'll decide after Christmas.

If you have not purchased a mirrorless camera yet but have $1000.00+ to spend on a new iPhone, that tells me you have not been too interested in purchasing a mirrorless camera. I think you will be happiest with your new iPhone X. Enjoy!

I have a cell phone that takes pictures and I sometimes use it to record images 'for the record'. A snap of something I want to recall later but am too lazy to make notes. I also use it as a remote control for my camera. It has apps for DOF calculations as well as astronomic data. But I use my cameras to take photographs. What will the camera companies do in reaction to a new and better cell phone? Nothing!

I recommend everyone look out. The iPhone X is going to beat all the cameras and camera companies in technology, weight, size, and excellence. I want it just for the camera, but I will wait until January. Besides, I'm having fun with the Canon EOS 620 now, and I don't have the $999 for the iPhone X right now.

I've heard that Nikon is going to put a call/text feature in their next upgrade to the D850. The model nomenclature is still under consideration. Though rumor has it the camera will be branded D850cp. The earpiece and microphone are going to be incorporated into the bottom plate of the camera. Not convenient if the camera is on a tripod, so there are trade offs. The touch sensitive screen on the back will be used for the texting function. Along with the database of stored photos used for Program mode photos, there will be an extensive vocabulary and intelligent design that will guess the words you want to use in sentences. There is also a phonebook in which to store friend's numbers, addresses, etc.

Nikon developers admit this is going to be a bit of challenge. However, they think this should put Nikon ahead of many cell phones for photography use.

I wonder if they will offer a "shutter click" ringtone?

Cathy, I know exactly what you mean!!!
Those pros using the iPhones are formidable!
I've done the next best thing to compete with them, I've bought a Canon 1Dx....., but if it turns out that I still can't compete with them, then I'll be forced to join them.
I admit, right now I carry both a 1Dx AND an iPhone. Would certainly be a WHOLE LOT easier if I carried JUST the iPhone(and cheaper too!)!!! LoL

I did it. I asked my DH for an iPhone X. (bottom of the line = $999.00) he yelled, "NO."

Does that mean I need to dump him for an MD? I can't. We've been thru too much together. I wouldn't lose him for anything in the world.

It's very difficult to say. I was amazed that I could get the amount of information I did. Stay tuned, just in case more info becomes available.

They don't have to do a thing, a phone is not a competition to a camera!
