We don't have Best Buy over here, but I shop around all over.
You will be spending more money (because you can't use the cards) somewhere else. Plus, you'll *still* have the gift cards (and those damn things expire) and let's face it, you'll be spending additional cash at BB to get something to use them up.
So I'd say get it there, use the cards, job done.

FWIW - when I moved to Bavaria, there was no kitchen here. No hob, no oven, nada.
I'd accumulated a ton of points in the UK, but obviously couldn't use them in Germany.
However... I was able to get Ebay vouchers for the points, used those on Ebay Germany -- and a €199 microwave (with integrated oven) ended up costing me... €79.

HI, I purchase my Nikon in January at Best Buy. I didn't have an issue. I was able to pick it up at the store in few days, or ship it to my house.

First off, like to thank everyone for their input on previous topics. You all helped me greatly in deciding the direction I will be taking.

Now I would like to know if anyone out there has had experience purchasing from Best Buy. Now I know it is important to support local shops, however Best Buy is offering a D750 kit with a AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm f/4G ED VR lens, plus other goodies, for $2399.99. While I could undoubtedly find the same deal elsewhere, I have more then a handful of gift cards that would cover nearly have the cost. So fellow UHH people what do you think?

I'm going to give you my experience with BestBuy.

About 8 years ago, I had to replace a refrigerator that basically couldn't keep our food cold any longer. So I shopped around and at my landlords suggestion, I headed over to BestBuy to see what was in stock in her price range, and how fast it could be delivered.

They had the model she suggested in stock, so I placed the order, and paid CASH and scheduled the delivery!

But something in the back of my mind said it wasn't the right choice.

I headed down the street another half mile to Barron's and found a better model for just a couple hundred more, still within my landlords price range. Placed that order, and she used her credit card over the phone to pay for it

So I headed right back to BestBuy (within an hour of my original order) to cancel my "CASH" sale and get my money back. Well, their refund policy prevented them from refunding my cash to me on the spot. They said that the only way I could get my money back was to wait two weeks for them to issue me a check!

So, buyer beware!

I do purchase some small items from them, IF they are things that have no chance of needing to be returned!

Ask exactly what the return/refund policy is on your item. It could be a price point that changes the refund from cash or credit card to a check, and your camera is well above that price point! Then the combination of gift cards and cash or credit card will further complicate any potential refund!

You can always sell your gift cards, and take that cash and purchase from B&H, or Adorama!

Personally, Best Buy is the last place I shop for camera gear, here in Clearwater. My only problem with them is that when I go in to look/shop, I am usually wearing shorts, a tee shirt and sandals. (It's Clearwater, Fl. and the temp is generally in the 60's -90's). The sales people look at me like I'm intruding and either refuse or can't answer simple questions about a camera or lens. Now, I got decent help at the Best Buy in Palisades Mall, in New York, so this is probably just a case of a couple of store managers here need to do some creative firing. But, they've been taken off of my photo AND computer as I got Exactly the same treatment in their computer department when I was looking for an 8 gb graphics accelerator card. (I ended up getting the Nvidia TESLA GRID M3 3020 16GB GDDR5 which cost me about $2200 so it wasn't a case of me not wanting to buy anything expensive). So the store in Clearwater on Hwy 19 and Gulf to Bay is the last place I look for anything. As I said, some are really good (Palisades Mall) and some are horrible (Clearwater Fl). But since you have gift cards to defer the cost.. they should be good. But, as always, verify that it is a USA version.

I haven't always bought from Best Buy (generally preferring that local shop) but I also have had really good service and advice from a number of departments at BB, with more knowledgeable and interested staff than I would have expected. Go for it!

If you join the BB rewards club, you will also get credits you can use for accessories. Recommend their Geek Squad warranty. Very fair. I have a BB credit card for 6 months no interest. Have fun. Nothing like the smell of a new camera.

I have purchased many items from Best Buy with no problems. If you are buying in their store, make sure and check the price against their website. I have found that many times the price is less online than it is in the store.

I bought the latest version of the Nikon 80-400 VR at Best Buy for $1483.99 when the same lens was still selling for $2699.99 at every other online store. The Best Buy sales person knew nothing about the lens, and could not explain why the lens was reduced by $1216.00. The Nikon 16-35 f4 was also on sale--I am happy with both lenses.
I post this only to affirm that good things can happen at Best Buy.

You lucky dog! I think you may have stumbled on a major pricing error in Best Buy's price book. I would be interesting to learn how long it took before someone discovered it.

I have purchased both D3200 and D7100 kit bundles from Best Buy and was satisfied with both. Like yourself, I took advantage of price promotions and points.

A deliberate price reduction. Went back to full price two days later.

So, you believe best buy has a conspiracy going against people wearing shorts and a tee shirt. I've shopped in several best buy stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina wearing shorts and tee shirt and have never been given the cold shoulder treatment. Yes, more often than not the sales staff are just this side of not having a clue but there are a few that learn the products and the others are useful for opening a locked display case. I've found that attitude not apparel usually has a lot to do with ones over all shopping experience, especially in places like best buy.

Then they certainly have a healthy profit margin at their full price.
