You can find all of the info about the winter Yellowstone tours on my web site at www.gerlachnaturephoto.com. I also created a flickr sharing page for tour participants. Anyone can view the images, but only my clients can post images, and then images shot only on the tour. That way all 72 clients this season can share their images over several weeks of tours. Here is the flickr page link: https://www.flickr.com/groups/yellowstonephotos/

Thank you. For now, consider my DW and I prospects for one of your tours!

Here are some images from snowy Feb 2, 2017. This morning the temperature is 31 degrees -- below zero! Want to trade?

Autofocus is terrible in this much falling snow. I had to go to manual focus. If the subject is still, the best way to manually focus in this snow is to use live view and magnify the face by 10x.

Exquisite series, John; great clarity and perfect framing, especially with manual focus and shooting conditions. Well done!

Thanks for the postings of late. I lived in Billings for 25 years before moving away. It's been years since I was in Yellowstone Park during the winter where I saw many of the same types of sights. What a treat to revisit those wonderful memories. I love it.

An outstanding series! All that new snow, nice and white, the exposure and detail so spot on, nice work.

Wise to give up on autofocus. You have mastered manual operation well. Practice makes perfect! Thanks for sharing.

The Wolf and Bear discovery center is a tiny zoo that does display several grizzly bears and they have perhaps a half dozen wolves. It is a small operation, though they are planning on having an otter exhibit too when they get the funding. They also have a few raptors that were injured and cannot survive in the wild. The bears are obtained from various places where they would otherwise be killed by authorities. All are bad bears, and that really means people ruined it for them, usually by feeding them on purpose or letting them get into garbage. Once bears learn about human food, they don't seem to ever forget and usually that unfairly forces authorities to kill them. Two of the younger bears were taken from a sow Grizz in Yellowstone when she was shot because she found humans to be easy prey and most edible. The center is a place for people to experience both Grizzly bears and wolves up close and personal, as they are unlikely to see them while traveling Yellowstone, though possible. I think it is fine to photograph captive animals, though I greatly prefer wild whenever possible. And when it is captive, I always say that it is.

Yes, one of these days we need to get over our zoo aversion and go in. Passed it hundreds of times.

There are a lot of animals in Yellowstone. The north side of the park where you can drive your car is particularly good right now, and late September is excellent for many large mammals in prime breeding condition. I am a bit spoiled, though, as I have led about 40 extended safaris to the best game parks in Kenya, and that is overwhelming!
