I remember back in the days "BD" - before digital. You could get out in such cold and first off have trouble getting the lids off of the plastic film containers because they would stiffen up in the cold and you would try to do it with your gloves on! Sometimes the film would be so cold it would break, but the other big problem was static electricity - in the cold dry air below zero, the film winding in the camera would generate static electricity and sometimes your photographs would have little lightning streaks across them! THAT would add more misery when you saw the final results!

Kudos to you for being out in that kind of weather. From the looks of these images, it was well worth it.

You always get plenty of fine shots on a Yellowstone photo tour. And it isn't that tough. We use 13-passenger snowcoaches now, but only put 9 clients in the vehicle to provide some extra room for gear.

Would you please provide a company name or contact for Yellowstone photo tours? Thanks.

You can find all of the info about the winter Yellowstone tours on my web site at www.gerlachnaturephoto.com. I also created a flickr sharing page for tour participants. Anyone can view the images, but only my clients can post images, and then images shot only on the tour. That way all 72 clients this season can share their images over several weeks of tours. Here is the flickr page link: https://www.flickr.com/groups/yellowstonephotos/

Julie is one of my clients (already taken) who was the head boozer on the "Party Bus." It is amazing how good hot coffee is when it is 1 part coffee and 5 parts Bailey's! I am single and will stay that way since I travel more than 340 days a year shooting photos around the world, so no time for relationships.

My group this week. We had two snowcoaches and Barb Eddy was the other leader. A very happy group. However, to be more accurate, instead of their thumbs up, they should have been holding up their wine and Bailey's bottles!

Here are some images from snowy Feb 2, 2017. This morning the temperature is 31 degrees -- below zero! Want to trade?

Autofocus is terrible in this much falling snow. I had to go to manual focus. If the subject is still, the best way to manually focus in this snow is to use live view and magnify the face by 10x.

Wonderful set.
