Great shots. It is even colder there than here in Southeast Wisconsin. These shots make it worth being out in the cold and snow.

Here are some images from snowy Feb 2, 2017. This morning the temperature is 31 degrees -- below zero! Want to trade?

Autofocus is terrible in this much falling snow. I had to go to manual focus. If the subject is still, the best way to manually focus in this snow is to use live view and magnify the face by 10x.

I enjoyed the wolves most.

I love your pics of Yellowstone! These stir up the desire to roam the beautiful places again & see what God has made! These are fabulous shots. I am seeing things I may never get to in person. Thank you so much!

So you are able to see Grizzlies at Discovery Center even in Winter? They feed them too? You have a wonderful job sir! Take care, Walt

Those are so inspiring, and show the resilience of nature.

I was relieved to see that the bear was being fed to stay awake. (That works with me too sometimes.) I always count upon not encountering bears or snakes in winter.

An outstanding set of images. All are great, but I am especially fond of that snow covered bison in #7.

Great pictures....however, the last shot of the bison (where he is looking at you) is showing his teeth. Is he smiling at you or sizing you up for a snack?

I love to see the wolves too, but that isn't easy in Yellowstone. We did get to hear them howling while walking the boardwalk at Grand Prismatic spring, but no sightings!

I suspect just chewing the grass it was feeding on, after of course, using its head to move three feet of snow out of the way. It truly is amazing how these bison survive Yellowstone winters. Imagine spending months moving snow with your face to uncover a few blades of brown grass. On clear nights, they must endure the long night in sub-zero temperatures. They are amazingly adapted and truly wonderful animals. It continues to sadden me that bison are not tolerated that much once they leave the park and often are killed by government agencies.

Bison are quite docile in winter - just trying to survive. The legal limit to approach is 25 yards, but I prefer to stay further away and you get more snow in your image if you shoot from a greater distance.
