I'm looking for a wide angle lens for my Nikon D7100, no fisheye. Looked at the Nikon 10-24MM. Don't want to spend $800 plus. Any suggestion on another Brand? Or should i just bite the bullet?
Thanks,
Sam
Sigma make a real nice 8-16 for $700
I am very pleased with the Tokina 11mm - 16mm, 2.8 on my 7100. It is very highly rated and affordable at Adorama. I attended a classic car show last weekend and found that it gave me an added advantage that I had not thought of beforehand. It allowed me to get very close to the cars to get my shot without having someone walk between me and the car. The sharpness in center and out to the edges is very, very good.
I have the Tamron 10-24mm and have been very satisfied. I wish I could remember the thread, but another member posted some train photos taken with the Tamron and they were very crisp. I have found that I use the 24mm in landscape photography quite a bit, if that helps.

Yes, that kind of thinking is why I got the Sigma 10-20mm for my Canon and why I missed it when I moved to Pentax - I take a lot of pictures at museums and train stations; in neither situation do I want to put much space between my subject and me lest someone feel an obligation to fill that seeming "void".
From my personal experience of many years... Bite the Bullet! I have so many times read all the reviews, agonized over the money, saved the money and a few years later Bit the Bullet and spent the money and got what I didn't get in the beginning (sometimes for a later version that was better). It eliminates all the doubts and the shoulda, coulda, woulda's.

Here is a sample shot with the Tokina 11-16 F 2.8 DX II. I was no more than about 3-feet from the car.

Bite the bullet, it is worth it.
I do not know how wide do you want to go but I use a Nikon 12-24 f4 AFS and it feels my needs perfectly.
This Nikon lens was made for use in DX bodies.
I would suggest the 16-35mm. I have it and I am completely satisfied with the quality of the pictures.

Before I paid full price for a Nikon lens I would look for a refurbished by Nikon factory.

I have the Sigma 10-20 f 3.5 version and I love it. I also use it on a D7100
Me too. Great lens, used on a D7100 as well.

The one thing to go for is a fast lens. I'd hate to hear that you went for a slower type simply because you feel by just raising your ISO value you'll be alright.
Maybe your style and reasoning that would work. Remember, the higher the ISO value, the less good data you'll have.

I own a D7100 and purchased the Tokina 12-28mm f4 lens. Obviously it acts like an 18-42mm due to the sensor factor. It is sharp as a tack, well built and the best thing is 1/2 the price of a similar Nikon lens.

I don't know?
I shoot Canon.
The lens I would love to have is Canon EF 11-24L. It is a f/4. The lens I have now is Tokina 16-28 f/2.8. For crop I have Canon 10-22 which is slow lens but has been the bench mark!
If I were a phot-journalist no dough I would have a 1.8.
