I don't think the credit card cancelled the order. I live in NJ buy things in NYC and ship to my kids in Boston and i've never been questioned. i never ordered more than $1000 item to be shipped.

The easiest way to fix this issue is by YOU calling your credit card company and adding your work address as a "second authorized" delivery address, simple. Canon is not at fault here as the easiest way to fraudulently use someones credit card is to use it to order something and have that item sent to THEIR address, or a PO box address. Sending a package to the registered address of the credit cards is the best way to verify that the USER is getting the package. Its a simple solution, don't blame Canon, at least not this time.

I've had a similar issue happen with Lenovo also on a laptop purchase - they (Canon) just want to make sure there's no fraud going on here. This is not an unsual way of handling it.

There is still hope I can get the bank to drop the hold and re order Monday ,the only problem there is a 10hr day in the mill doesn't allow much time for phone calls

I can understand why you are upset, but this is a normal precaution since many scams of this kind exist that vendors and credit card companies have to deal with to avoid fraudulent orders placed by identity thieves. They are trying to protect you. You should try and work with them. There is probably a solution to be found.

If they can verify your details, and perhaps a way to associate you with the work address that may be one avenue to pursue.

If you have a work e-mail and location that they can contact you with, so that you can respond it may help bypass the security check...

Good luck with finding a solution.

I have ordered from Canon, but I also order from Canon through Amazon (many companies sell Canon stuff on Amazon -most legit, but some are gray-market). Amazon easily understands that shipping address and billing address are not necessarily the same thing - especially since many high-end items will require a signature upon delivery. I always have camera and computer items shipped to my work address and have never had a problem.

LoL, sorry Norman, but there is NO comparable Nikon, unless you spend $6,500!!

What are you talking about he only has the one camera and he didn't even mention which camera he was buying that I can see. And yes there is comparable Nikons and better.

That's why I buy from B&H, been there, done that and never had a problem. I've never bought from the Canon store. Better returns and service from B&H. Good Luck!

Bill to-ship to, I do it all the time. My legal mailing address is a PO box. I had to get a box because the post office would not replace the mailbox in my condo and I couldn't access mail because the door on the box was bent. Sometimes when I order something and try to send to the post office, the company requests a physical address and I use it then.

Well if you too don't know which camera, how can you say that there is a better camera unless you speak Hasselblad??

I don't care what you end up with, but you are being an idiot (with due respect) and reacting emotionally in a situation that could happen with any vendor, also potentially penalizing yourself on a good purchase.

I don't see this as vendor issue, but an issue with buying online, and one that you have unfortunately now had experience with. If you are upset, please at least place the blame in the correct place.

On the other hand this situation may still be able to be rescued if approached in the right manner.

This is an unnecessary and abusive response. I have never ordered anything on the 'net w/o being asked whether the shipping address is the same as the billing address. On one or two occasions, I had computer gear shipped to my place of employment for the same reason as proffered by the OP. No issues.

If Canon is unwilling to ship to anything other than the billing address, such policy should be clearly noted during the check-out process.

Beyond that, Shippers WILL NOT deliver to a P.O.box. in such cases, one MUST provide a separate shipping address if your credit/debit card's billing address is a P.O.box.

There's nothing at all unreasonable about the O.P's attitude. And, as to not being able to get a comparable Nikon w/o spending thousands of $$, that is pure, unadulterated BS.

If I don't think I am going to be home to sign for a delivery I just call the terminal, give them the tracking number, and ask them to hold it for pickup. Never a problem. Of course, it helps if the terminal is not too far away, which may not be your case. As far as your question as to why companies have both mailing and ship to addresses on their order pages, it's because of people like me. My mailing address is a PO Box, which is rarely acceptable for shipping, so I have to list a different shipping address. I buy mostly from B&H and have never had a problem. I have thought about buying direct from Canon but have never seen any advantage to it.

Actually, in this case, we know which camera because he has a second thread about it. He ordered a Canon 7D Mark II refurb from Canon directly. Since this is primarily a sports and action camera with with a sophisticated AF system geared to that purpose and 10fps, for the moment SS was correct. Without getting into the mirrorless controversy, the only DSLRs that can be purchased new with that capability, other than the 7D Mark II, are the Canon 1Dx and the Nikon 4s, both around $6000. The Nikon D500 and D5 are not available yet as is the Canon 1Dx Mark II. So if the OP's purpose in buying this camera is high speed and accurate AF for sports and action then, as I said, SS was correct. If the OP's plan is not to use this camera for sports and action but rather for portrait or landscape photography then I'd agree with you that there would be better choices.

Canon has always been great with me. Ask to speak with a supervisor. If you ar upset with Canon don't ever try to work with Nikon. I and several friends had massive problems.
