I am So pissed at Canon right now they canceled my new camera order "because it's being shipped to a different address than billing, Of course I want to get it at work instead of having it sit on my front porch until 7pm ,not in my neighborhood. Called customer DISservice today and he said he'd fix it his fix was to resubmit the order and than bill my CC again , of course with the hold already on the card for the original purchase it would be denied. So much for taking it Shooting Eagles on Thursday doubt it will be here by the time I can call the bank drop the hold than get ahold of Canon especially since I can't really get time for phone conversations until after work Monday. than to top it off and rub salt in the wound he says "I'll hold this order open for ya the hold should be off in 3 to 4 days" So mad I'm looking at Nikons online right now

As they say "Don't cut your nose off to spite your face" if you are a Canon person do you really want to get all new gear. My experience with Canon has been really good and they get stuff back to you really fast when something needs to be repaired. Just talked to my local camera store and they told me that Nikon, Sony etc. none are as fast as Canon. My husband has had to deal with Sony recently.......actually for 3 different things regarding his Mirrorless Camera........while he loves the camera you better hope you don't need any customer service because it definitely needs improving. So maybe once you take a deep breath you might rethink this whole thing........I get your disappointment.

this may not work for you, but it has for me in the past. call canon customer service and ask for a supervisor. explain the situation to that person, and explain that you do not understand why they would give you the option of shipping to a different address than the billing address if that is going to just cancel the order, tell them that you expect them to ship you the camera overnight, as it is their mistake, not yours, and if they refuse, let them know that you will no longer be doing business with them and that you plan to report them to the BBB.
you do not need to follow up with your threats, but they will not know that, and will possibly ship the camera next day delivery. unfortunately we sometimes need to push the envelope and force the issue in order to get it resolved. best of luck to you.

I can understand why you are upset, but this is a normal precaution since many scams of this kind exist that vendors and credit card companies have to deal with to avoid fraudulent orders placed by identity thieves. They are trying to protect you. You should try and work with them. There is probably a solution to be found.

If they can verify your details, and perhaps a way to associate you with the work address that may be one avenue to pursue.

If you have a work e-mail and location that they can contact you with, so that you can respond it may help bypass the security check...

Good luck with finding a solution.

If you are dealing with Canon directly, maybe you should cancel and look at one of the ABC's and request overnight delivery if you need the camera immediatley. You will have to pay fo the shipping but if timing is critical it may be necessary

I hope you will give them another chance because they have always treated me very well. In fact, over the years Canon's support has been the best of any from any company of any kind in my experience.

Interestingly, I just this week ran into the address issue with Canon when trying to register a lens. It is an issue we have run into with many companies when the billing and shipping addresses don't match up. That could be coming from the credit card companies.

Get over it! Canon is trying to protect you (your money).
It is an anti fraud protocol. You should have contacted them and arranged delivery to work ahead of time or some other pick up arrangement. I have never dealt with anyone who would bill to one address and ship to another unless it was prearranged, such as a gift etc.
If someone had used your card number and ordered something sent to them somewhere besides your billing address you would really have something to be steamed about.

Norman, sorry to hear about your Canon woes! MANY companies will ONLY ship to the CC address. That's how they avoid people using stolen cards. Some allow you to keep a separate shipping address on file, different than the CC billing address.
I've been there as well. You can also have the package held at the shippers hub for pick-up, but not always convenient.
I would try and be patient and maybe talk to a supervisor that might allow the drop location to differ. I realize this is a weekend, but maybe Canon will agree to an overnight at their expense if you explain the situation.
I missed some gear that was supposed to go on vacation with me, not because of misunderstandings but because there was bad weather at the UPS hub in Minnesota or wherever the heck it is, after I had paid extra for overnight to ensure delivery. But no plane left the hub for about 2 days. I guess I made do, since I don't even remember what it was. I was so pissed off I was ready to sue God, but couldn't find a lawyer to take it on!!! LoL
I know that doesn't help you, but eventually you'll have your gear...., and what AWSOME gear it is!!! Canon is just trying to keep your card from buying someone else a 7ll on your card. ;-)

Shipping to other than the billing address leads to fraud, theft, and pilfering. Canon has been shipping camera gear long before most of us began using their gear. They know they are protecting your best interests. Nikon most likely has the same practices as manufacturers have gotten tired of being taken by crooks. Even Amazon questions the practice of shipping to other than the billing address. Take a deep breath and then thank Canon for the service you purchased. Good luck resolving this issue, it's not as bad as it seems.

LoL, sorry Norman, but there is NO comparable Nikon, unless you spend $6,500!!
The 7200 is like taking about 10 paces backwards!!!! But at least you'll save a little money!! Good luck. ;-)

On the flip side: Many years ago, someone had a Canon camera stolen. A year or so later, Canon got it for repair.

Seems they checked the S/N registration, found it was stolen, fixed it and sent it to the original owner, for free.

The easiest way to fix this issue is by YOU calling your credit card company and adding your work address as a "second authorized" delivery address, simple. Canon is not at fault here as the easiest way to fraudulently use someones credit card is to use it to order something and have that item sent to THEIR address, or a PO box address. Sending a package to the registered address of the credit cards is the best way to verify that the USER is getting the package. Its a simple solution, don't blame Canon, at least not this time.

Totally agree. This is credit card fraud prevention, and it would be the same no matter which company you are dealing with: Canon, Nikon, Ford, Apple, etc. Be thankful that they are protecting your credit.
