I tried it earlier when it went public and hated it, ended up rolling back to Windows 7 Pro 64. The program was just too flawed when it first went public. I just loaded it again today and things seem to be a bit better. It still has a huge bug, well for me it is. In Win 7 and XP ( skipped Vista) when you plug in a USB device the program will prompt you for what you intend to do, Win 10 asks once and uses that answer without a prompt when subsequent USB devices are plugged in. My biggest gripe is when you go to unplug that USB device you plugged in and there is no "safely remove USB device" icon to click on. I set the program up to via system settings to show the icon in the task bar but it won't show the icon at all. There is a work around but it just pisses me off for this to not work. Other than this the program seems OK......not fond of edge...still using IE11 which works in this latest build of 10

You will find the "ok to disconnect hardware" upon clicking the "^" simble located on your task bar on the lower right. Clicking this will display several other shortcuts also.
If you want a free Word type processor, check out Open Office at
www.ninite.com. There are other free programs and utilities there. The neat thing is ninite.com will download and install them without you needing to answer all the questions. It will also keep them up to date.
Wow, you're fortunate to have upgraded at all. In any case make sure you have Version A09 of the Bios installed.
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=CJH5HHere are compatible Windows 10 Drivers including the Wireless adapter. (You haven't listed the adapter model BTW)
http://www.driverscape.com/manufacturers/dell/laptops-desktops/inspiron-1520/1436Since you did not say whether your OS is 32 or 64 bit. Make sure you know that when you choose the wireless adapter driver.
Upgrade the Wireless driver from the link above, install and reboot.
Make sure the Wireless driver is at the top of the adapter tree use order, and that all power saving feature for the wireless adapter are turned off.

Thank you so much! My OS is 32 bit. I know I am lucky that I actually had up grade two different time to different Window.
i will try your suggestion, but I will need the help from my "smart" daughter, who taught me computer after I had retired in 2007. This computer was my retirement gift.
Thanks again!

Let me know if you need further assistance (via Private Message) or if our daughter runs into an issue.
The latest version of the BIOS does implement more control over device power settings. That combined with the W10 compatible wireless adapter driver should give you a fix.
It is important that the first device in the adapter hierarchy is the wireless adapter versus the ethernet adapter. One can set the queue with the wireless adapter first followed by the ethernet adapter. Your daughter will likely know what I'm talking about.

I am sure she will! She had saved me lots of time after I made tons of mistake. I am still learning. Please don't laugh at this old man.
:) I will pay her back by correcting her photographic mistake.
It will take some time to straight it up, because she is living in the other state. she will visit me once a while.
Thank you!
Best OS system that Microsoft has developed yet. Sure beats 7 and 8.1 in my opinion...........

I downloaded Win 10, it wouldn't work, I called MS and was told that my computer wouldn't work with it. Machine is a four year old Acer Aspire. The guy I was talking with didn't have a good grasp of English.
It's not Windows 10. Windows 10 will run your Acer Aspire just fine. The problem is the Acer OEM utility software.
If you do NOT try to upgrade, but instead download the Windows 10 Media Creation tool and create a USB install key, it will work just fine. In fact, it will make a "rocket" of of your Acer Aspire. Do a clean install and don't reload the Acer system.
Don't reload the Acer utilities, and you may have to run down the drivers for your network connection and your wireless. I am inclined to say, however, that Windows 10 is a bit of a miracle worker at finding drivers.
I've only experienced one driver problem (audio) out of 25 machines so far (two acers), and it disappeared two days later as Windows 10 found the driver and automatically loaded it.
Did you run the compatibility check for Windows 10 before just going for the jugular???

Not to mention everything from Apple. I am planning on overspending for a MACbook Pro and putting Windows 10 on it to speed it up.
operator error. No more than 10% of respondents have a problem. That falls into the operator error parameter.
I have had no problems with Win 10. I use open office for word processing, it is a free download OpenOffice.org

I do not lose wifi upon wake up, but do upon restart. One click on "connect" restores it. I'm not very computer savvy, but if I were having your problem, I'd try to reset the router, delete and reinstall the software and start all over.
Edge sucks, for sure. Internet Explorer works well with 10. You'll still get ads, for which there is this:
http://adblockplus.org/I probably wouldn't have ditched it quite so soon, if the '1 click' connect had worked. I didn't and I had to continually re-type my router password before it would accept it (User error once or twice but not serval times every day). I wasn't aware that IE11 supported Adblock Plus as it never used to. I only updated my laptop to W10, my two desktops both running W8.1 never had any issues, so I had no need to reboot the router, although I did try this routinely a number of times. Anyhow, I am happy to hear that you are a happy Windows 10 user. This is not the case for many of us, plus I late found out that my Wacom tablet is not supported. I am very happy with W8.1 and will remain so.
I find Windows 10 unnecessarily difficult to learn! I like Windows 7 and would wish Microsoft would continue to update it.
