Yes, The best deal would be to buy a Refurbished D7100 directly from Nikon ! for half price...Now That's a DEAL !

Hi, I have decided on a Nkon D7200 and was wondering if any of you that keep up with all the latest news have any idea when there will be a price drop? I'm in no hurry, but I was hoping to get one a little cheaper. Don't want a refurbished one, The camera I get will be with mea very long time, as I still have the same rebel from 10 years ago. I don't get all the latest and greatest! LOL There wasn't any special sales through the holidays which I was hoping for. I saw a great deal on the D5500 recently at BestBuy but after playing with both, I'm drawn to the 7200. Any idea??? thanks

unless you are going to shoot action and need the larger buffer of the d7200, the d7100 is just as good a camera and is much cheaper. as to a time to buy, wait until the d500 is released and the prices on both the d7200 and the d7100 should drop. also consider places like Nikon, b&h photo, adorama, and look for refurbished bodies. they come with the same warranty as a new camera and are usually a little less expensive.

If you want a camera for a long time, and your in no hurry, buy the new D500, so many more features than the D7200. You will be happier, but your wallet won't.

I'm not the OP but I think that's good advice . It just depends on how your going to use it and how much.if its about saving.g a few bucks and it's just a casual hobby go for the refurbished 7100 or 7200. If your going to use it a lot and hard go for the new D500.
I've been shooting a d7000 in combo this a d810. Now my d7000 got a little water damage and is messing up. I need a tough crop body so I'm going to upgrade to the d500.
But I think the guy knows what he wants and was just looking to see if anyone knew if the 7200 would be dropping in price . Good luck brother on your choice.

Bad, bad place to buy. Most likely grey market. Wouldn't be a good choice after their alleged warranty runs out if you need service.

There used to be an algorithm that could determine when a price drop would occur on any given camera body. I forget the algorithm, but the answer was always approximately 2 months after you purchase a camera body!

Haha that happened to me twice. Kinda a month or two after I got my d7000 the 7100 came out and they dropped that price pretty quickly. Then I bought the af-s 300 d from B&H the day I received it B&H put up a preorder for the new 300 vr. I was bummed at first. Then I shot with to old afs 300 and fell in love with it.

Why not consider a refurbished one? They have 7200's on Nikon's site for $999.96. I've bought several refurbished camera products and they haven't failed me once yet look absolutely brand new.

Right. I always look for refurbs first. The ones I have bought have had very few (maybe single digit) shutter releases. The 90-day Nikon warranty is the main drawback, but I've never needed a warranty, anyway.

I bought a D750 from Hunt's, and there was a $300 price drop. I called them, and they gave me immediate credit.

I own the 7200 and think it will serve me for several years (or until I get an 810). I bought this one new during a GAS attack, but bought my 7100 refurb from Adorama. It had 37 shutter clicks when it arrived. Can't get much newer! I think if you browse the board, you will find others have similar experience buying refurbs from Nikon or Big 3. I suspect they are usually return or demo in-store cameras.

Got a refurb D7100 for $489 from Adorama, but I’ve read that it’s about $10 less now.
